    Default Sassanids in MP

If anyone has been able to win successfully with 10000 to 12500 money, please show me how. Because I don't know what i'm doing wrong, but I have not been able to win an online match with Sassanids especially on city assault matches. They just feel so average even their cav seems so so. Am I missing something?
    Any tips would be great.

With Sassanids, I'm only able to consistently get decisive victories against AI in custom battles (10,000 gold) using a combo of Armenian slingers (they are by far the best slingers in the game with 175 range and high rate of fire), Elite Dilamite Warriors, Sogdian warriors, Naft throwers (or Royal Archers who can sustain constant rate of fire with high ammo), persian levy, and a couple elite immortals.

Any majority cavalry armies always get me Close/Pyhrric Victories. Camel cataphracts seem to severley underperform against everything and they take so many casualties no matter what situation. Sogian Camels also lose vs almost all other melee cav 1 on 1. Sogdian camels seem to work a lot better vs. infantry.

It is more cost effective to use multiple cheap throw-away Persian mounted warriors as pin-down cavalry, and flank with Pushtigban shock or crossbow cav.

Pushtigban Shock cavalry, Zhayedan immortal cav, and Savaran crossbow cavalry are the only cavalry worth a damn on their own for Sassasnids. The others sustain too many casualties in all situations to be worth while.

Sassanids seem to do better with these weird 'shock' ranged foot infantry. Naft throwers can beat almost any infantry unit in melee when numbers are about equal. They are very useful for bombing hundreds of medium infantry from flanks, and then wiping out the last 40-60 units in melee. With heavy shot at the flanks, Royal archers are the best archer unit for speed of annihilating heavy infantry in the shortest amount of time because there is just a constant stream of arrows that never ends. Armenian slingers can kill just about anything and rack up 200+ kills.

Cavalry on the other hand, is lucky to get 100 kills per unit per battle.

Sassanian melee cavalry are only above WRE scout cav. Every other faction seem to have better melee cavalry.

I think the camel scare trait is bugged, the camel cataphracts never seem to 'scare' any horse units.

Soooo. . .the Sassanids and the Huns, who had the strongest cavalry in the era, have the weakest cav in game. #CALogic.

what makes the sassanid cavalry weak is the lack of good melee cavalry.
shock cavalries are extremely weak in melee after the charge is over and it's only their armor in tire 3 units that keep them in game. camel melee cavalries also showed to be useless according to my experience.
i'm surprised CA decided to make zhayedan (immortal cav) bow units, something like devil archers. imo the previous barbarian invasion clibanarii immortals were more accurate where they used bows, mace, sword and other weapons at the same time...
the immortals infantry however are real badass.

Unfortunately, all the competitive games I've watched so far with the Sassys have ended with a loss. They are also considered underwhelming to the point that they receive tournament buffs to be a viable faction. Their warriors looks quite cool, save for a few pyjama infantry. This rush build is probably as close as you're going to get from a competitive standpoint relying on the Sassy strength of cheap cavalry. Large (10 000) funds off course.

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

All Sassanids need are melee cavalry.
it really doesn't make sense since Persian Cavalry are a very cheap and decent melee cav for early rosters but other than that it is sorely lacking and needs more armor.
if they are just armored then they will give the Sassanids the edge they need in battles.

I am on a 10 game win streak with the Sassanids usually rely on my cav to win the day and bring 8-10 when cav is limited by rules 4-6 I bring javelins or Armenian slingers to help turn the cav fight. The slingers are usually better as they can cause damage long distance. If you PM me your steam ID I can show you some nice tactics I learned fighting in the Zeal tournament.

Yeah, the cav+slinger combo seems to work very well, for that area of the battle. I've also been trying out archer support with cav (depending on funds), either an archer or a unit of zhayedan on each flank (only in 1v1). Targeting enemy cav sling to slow and soften, use archers with whistle arrows and engage their cav. This usually works and is extremely satisfying, but micro heavy.
Still, better than loosing. Thanks for all the feed back.
