Default Are the Recommended Requirements for the game an honest depiction?

Of the games real time performance?
Keep in mind this is recommended and not minimum.

    CPU....2nd generation Core Intel I5
    4 GB RAM
    GPU.......Nvidia GTX 560 or AMD HD5870

Here is a list of the 2nd Generation Intel I5's which the game recommends.

And a AMD HD 5870 is what? 3 generations old im guessing.

Id love to see someone try and run the game with one of those CPUs and a 5870 then post the results. I would wager the results would fall in the "barely playable" range.

I'm playing the game with a core 2 quad and a gt 640. I'm finding the results more satisfactory than Rome2. But I'm am getting quite a few "freezes".
Proculus: Divine Caesar, PLEASE! What have I done? Why am I here?
    Caligula: Treason!
Proculus: Treason? I have always been loyal to you!
Caligula: [laughs insanely] That IS your treason! You're an honest man, Proculus, which means a bad Roman! Therefore, you are a traitor! Logical, hmm? Ha, ha, ha!

The game recommends max setting for me and I get awful performance on those so I doubt the recommended settings are terribly accurate.

Recommended does not mean max settings.

I don;t have 5870 but before I bought 260x I was using my back GPU which is GT520 which is not eve a gaming pc but I can run everything fine on lowest settings. 'barely playable' is quite subjective. Do you consider 15-20 fps barely playable or unplayable or you're fine with it ?

I dont mind running on performance settings, if it would not lag that much

i have a gtx 960 and an intel i5 4690k. I am running the game on performance settings with high textures and large unit size. I still get a lot of lag during 20vs20 battles. When ever my armies clashes together my fps drops down to 20-25fps, which is not playable. the recommeded requirements are false!
