    Default Having DL issues...

Haven't played game in 3+ yrs, but have a real desire to fire it up, maybe adding a submod as well... Got a new pc this past Christmas, win 7, I had the downloads on old pc, copied to thumb drive to xfer to new pc. Reinstalled Med 2 TW with kingdoms gold edition. Worked fine for a bit, but then crashes after 5-10 turns in 1st battle (playing as rhun). Did reinstall, same thing... have all the uac, win 7 adjustments done...Got frustrated and deleted my dl's from moddb (3.0 part 1, 3.0 part 2, 3.2 patch), figuring maybe corrupt from xfer. this is my issue now, when I re download off of moddb, files aren't the .exe or application that you can open and install. this is what they look like...

    TATW_3.0_Part 1of2 [1]
    TATW_3.0_Part 2of2 [1]
    TATW_3.2_Patch [1]

windows doesn't want to open them, or wants to know what program to use, they are not zip files either. its been awhile since loading this mod, hopefully I'm just missing something simple and silly, or a pc setting. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

btw, my stainless steel 6.4 works fine, vanilla M2TW works fine...it's just TATW giving me fits!

    Thanks

Did you perhaps download the files by using Internet Explorer? If you did, try to fix it like this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2688326/en-us#appliesto

If it doesn't work, try to rename the files to end with .exe: TATW_3.2_Patch.exe

If that doesn't work, re download using Mozilla Firefox.

Thanks for response. Yes, I was using IE. I'll try your ideas, and let you know how it goes. I know it's gotta be something simple, because I have no probs with other tw mods, and mods for other games as well.

using firefox did clear up the .exe issue. but the game STILL crashes everytime I start a battle, loading screen fires up, but at the end, pc locks up and I get the error "medieval 2 tw has encountered an unspecified error and will now close", I have to alt tab out to get cursor to move again. This is now officially driving me crazy... my disk drive does seem alittle wacky, working fine sometimes, but being problematic at others I may have to get warranty service on it. Like I said earlier, Stainless Steel works fine, as does vanilla m2tw and kingdoms....gonna load game on steam, and see if that clears anything up. thanks Elvenkind for response, any other thoughts would be great

Google for "How to disable/turn off daylight saving setting". That should do the trick with battles crashing. Also, if you are going to play vanilla TATW 3.2 only( without submods) then install these essential bugfixes as well: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes

    Good luck!

That was it, the daylight savings thing. Such a simple weird thing that I totally forgot about. I remember having to do that years ago for a RTW mod I think, Roma Surretum II that I used play alot...great mod! Anyways, I was able to charge Faramir and his rangers into E Osligath on a suicide run without crashing. Disk drive is still giving me fits, but with some patience I can get it to work, gonna have to contact support about that, pc only 3-4 monthes old. Thanks for the help and the heads up on bugfixes. I'd like to find a good submod, something adding units and factions... Was looking at Frogs, it seems like the old Frome submod updated for 3.2, but will look around for others. Do you have any recommendations on a comprehensive submod? Again, thanks alot for taking the time to help out
