Icon8 Are the Aztecs too powerful? Why are their Temple Guards units immune to gunshots???

EDIT: Sorry the I have been meaning to ask is the Inca powerful? Regardless it seems the same problem exist with the Aztecs too

Hey folks, wow it's been 3 years since I last posted

Anyway on point, I am playing the Expanded Americas mod in my Irish campaign H/VH. I love the Irish gunpowder units and calivermen and mounted calivermen are deadly. However funny thing is why are more elite Inca units too hard to be decimated by guns? Is this natural or due to the tweaking by the mod? Sorry for asking this as I haven't played much of the expansions packs so I can't tell. I had 4 mounted calivermen and it took me 5 minutes or so to make a dent on the numbers of one unit of naked Temple Guards! Seriously they have no armor or at least just some padding that a bullet can still penetrate! I read on other threads that Inca/Aztecs are powerful indeed but I haven't seen a thread discussing their seemingly immunity to gunshots.

Their excellent morale makes it harder for them to rout which I don't complain about but rather why are the Temple Guards so hard to be killed by guns? The Priests are not so difficult to deal with though. I had trouble taking on the Incas in America due to this reason as my troops become too few at the end of the battle. I resorted to fomenting revolts in their cities with spies so I could take these cities after rebelling. But seriously are the Incas in the game made of rock???

I haven't played that mod, but I can confirm that in the vanilla game, the Aztecs are very, very tough to kill. I only ever went up against them once, and that was playing as Portugal. They absolutely annihilated my army, and that was made up of all sorts, gunpowder units included (although not many of these). So in my experience, yes, they're very much made of rock.

Yes, they are overpowered. I play EA as Norway and against them it is always bloody battle with many dead heavy norse knights...

They have 2hp, that makes them tough to crack by firearms due to the weapons' low volume of fire and slow fire rates. Massed crossbows however do them in easily.

Interesting, what about archers can they do a better than job than gunners? I can't recruit crossbows from any settlements that is the problem. The Aztecs wear some padding and they can't be decimated by gunshots while my mounted calivermen easily picked off heavily armoured Byzantine heavy cavalry.

Really strange...... it seems CA did not make a good job of making at least a historically accurate game or at the very least even properly balanced the Inca faction as their overpoweredness don't even make sense!!! Is it possible to edit the stats however? My campaign in the Americas is dragging on for too long and it is very frustrating.

first off your playing a mod so don't blame CA. Secondly in M2TW factions with cavalry will always have a significant advantage against factions that don't.

Go to the mods folder => data => find the 'export_descr_unit' => open it and you can edit every stat of every units of your mod
