Default [SUPERMOD!!!!!] A ridiculous Idea for hardcore modders to consider.

Firstly what you are about to read I know is completely out there pie in the sky but if someone somewhere had the team and expertise I have to immortalise my idea by posting it for future modders to think, ", maybe we could do this."

This morning I was daydreaming and fleshed out this mod (You don't have to shoot me down in the comments I know it would take way too much time and resources.)

Basically the tltr is that I thought how about a DayZ style suvival online mmo (no zombies) with the Total War Engine Where you manage a small band of warriors that loots, raids and build their wealth?

I am bad at articulating ideas so I will keep it in bullet point format:

*The mod runs from a different executable to keep the vanilla game intact.

*In the mod there is no campaign map.

*There is only a tactical view campaign map (like the custom battle menu) with maps you can "play" in.

(Things are going to get strange now)

*Each map is a modded battle map about 12 times larger than a standard theatre of war. With relevant towns and one City to the region and weather according to region.

*Each map is run on its own server, and players can log into that map. How many players I don't really know but I guess anything from 3 to 64 would be cool. (told you).

*When you log into the map there are already towns with villager npc's roaming, wild animals you can hunt with bows, trees you can chop for wooden walls, quarries that you can temporarily annex for resources and with resources you can hire warriors or manage your loot and experience.

*When you are a level one Lord or person you have a group of say 6-15 men, basic levy units who then like in DayZ just go around collecting materials to make stuff and kill people for their loot. When a player/npc die there will be a Dota style floating number in the color relevant to the resource they looted.

*The aim of the game is to build your wealth and get a decent sized force, think Mount and blade or DayZ.

*Via Teamspeak you can talk to other players and make makeshift treaties where you can't kill each other and share all resources gained via loot.

*In the game you can attack very small villages (the textures are already there), make the folk slaves and take the town's resources.

*But before you do you need to kill off the levies and villagers and then once they have routed or surrendered you can click on an icon hovering above the town/village/quarry/lumber camp/trade post/port/city.

*Now any villager or soldier who manages to escape will contact the regional faction soldiers who are on the map patrolling the towns for brigands like yourself.

*Once they catch wind of what you did you have a timer indicating how long you can stick around looting until they rock up inevitably crush your small army.

*Think one map is a Roman region with very wealthy towns and villagers but with obviously strong patrols protecting them.

*Should you wish to rather roam the lands looking for small groups of civilians you can loot it will be harder to track down but easier to avoid the authorities.

*Should you run into another player who wants to fight you will have a cache victory point that can be captured like a siege battle and your or the enemy's loot will be sucked out depending on how long you stand there.

*Your compliment of staff is based on what you can afford. You don't pay them every minute or hour but instead when you log out. The wages will go against your loot and plunder and the net profit is available for the next session.

*Because the mod will be so demanding you won't be able to have more than say 150 - 450 men.

*In a pop up menu you can manage your troops with either allocating looted armor or weapons, put some men on horses to scout, etc.

*You would have to implement an ever changing pfm to reskin your character and your soldiers whenever you pick up new weapons and armor.

*If you start a clan with other players you can do bigger things like taking on actual armies and sacking cities.

*You may or may not seize a city in your clan's name depending on how good the modders will be able to program that.

*But you can build camp sites with barricades, stockpiles, walls and tents among other things to build up resources at the expense of attracting authorities or rival players.

*Combat in this mod will be dramatically different to that of Total War, your soldiers can switch between ranged and melee weapons with skirmishing being the bulk of combat, obviously 40 men on horseback will be incredibly expensive and one spear can do a lot of damage.

*Also on the combat you will use a lot more stealth based tactics sneaking through tall grass or woods to ambush archers before they pepper your squad down.

*The camera can't travel freely and will be movable only to your line of sight with no assistance from a map in the ui for immersion and tactics used with horsed who will mostly be scouts.

There are obviously a lot more features I can add to the mod but because I only thought it up today tied with the fact that it might never happen I would rather ask you guys to play along and join the what if party with me.

But seriously wouldn't it be cool???

I believe this is impossible with the tools they've given us. There is no way this 'mod' would see the light of day I'm afraid.

This would have a better chance if it was being made as its own game.

This is impossible, it is even more extensive then several true games.

It's not just impossible with the tools we received now but also with those we used before aswel

I'd keep it as a day dream if I were you.

I have never played them but isn't this pretty similar to the free to play tablet games? Clash of Clans? Game of War?

And yeah, absolutely impossible as a mod.
