Same as title really, just wondering What mods are you using with DEI?
Same as title really, just wondering What mods are you using with DEI?
I use the following mods since I like to have a long lasting campaign with large empires I'll know I'll be fighting against towards the later stages of the game.
- Reduced Unit Texture Variation (helps with performance)
- Global Armor Upgrades (the ai makes good use of this too, so it doesn't just benefit the player)
-12 turns per year
- spotting distances increase for AI
- events picture pack
- RTW music pack
- unit and faction names in English
- mitches guaranteed major factions (with edits to make only Rome, Carthage, Epirus, Egypt, Macedon, and the Seleucids be considered major)
- movement range reduction with naval double time
- concentrate fire
I've played several campaigns with these sub mods, and it's the best combination I've come up with to suit my personal tastes.
I used to use lots of other mods but for permanent beta testing reasons, and the low tolerance to submods of my traditionnal MPC partner, I prefer to keep with the bare minimum... = DeI + KAM's experimental.
Also, there was a time where DeI wasnt so diversified and I had at least a dozen mods running at the same time, but today DeI has grown big enough to be playable alone.
Still, I know I must be missing some things out there so that kind of thread is very useful.
The quest of the perfect game is never ending...
Besides DeI I just use GEM.
I don't need anything else![]()
I have that mod that turns off regionless attrition for nomads so if they run out of land their armies won't wither away since well... they're nomads... I got that Pikemen always have their pikes out mod.. not sure if that matters though since it just dawned on me that all of DEI's units are re-made. and I got the Epic Music Mod cause holy smoke that music pack is better than any other for any game I've ever played.
I've got a bit of a more heavy modded set up, but everything seems to be working fairly well with each other:
-Realistic destructible objects
-Arcade graphical effects removal
-Marble and limestone building fix for DEI
-Improved event pictures
-Kaziel's Early Republican Rome
-All Diplomatic Options for All Factions
-Push of Pikes - a fairly new and interesting mod that adds an ability to pikemen that forces them to take a few steps forward into the enemy each time its used. Unfortunately, many of the pike units added by DEI don't receive the new ability
-Reduced movement range for land units
-Guaranteed major faction empires
-No Public Order Negative from Garrisoning Troops
-Marian Reforms for Augustus Campaign
-Changes to Suebi recruitment - basically switches the recruitment of Bloodsworn with Sword Masters, making sword masters recruitable only from a level 3 barracks and adds an iron resource requirement. Historically iron was a valuable rare resource for the Germanic tribes and this mod helps emphasis that.
-Naval Overhaul for Divide et Impera (AAW based) - makes naval combat tolerable while we wait for the DEI 1.1 naval overhaul
-Carthaginian Scutum Designs for Car_Infantry and new linothorax armour
-Volley Fire for Archers
-Improved Spotting Distances for more Tactical AI
-KAM's More challenging, BAI friendly battles
-4TPY Build/Research/Cost
-Global Armor Upgrades
-MacklesMod: Hoplons Fixed - takes the new Hoplite shield models from Wrath of Sparta and adds them to the Hoplite units in all the other campaigns for less clipping issues. I've noticed there are still a few old shield models here and there though.
Can anyone tell me where to find the global armor upgrades submod? Thanks.
I use few mods besides DeI, some with additional changes:
- KAM's BAI pack (with changes to melee weapon damage and some projectiles, higher hit chances and different matched-formed-combat stats to have more animations in game)
- GEM
- SirAndrewdrakes naval overhaul (with decreased transport ship strength)
- Less civil war mod
- Marble and limestone fix
- some parts of a bloody animations mod
- personal mod (changed a faction and most units of that faction)
1. Increased spotting distances mod (the second version)
2. Battle dynamics reworked for DEI (makes combat more fast paced, and overall way more challenging)
3. DEI
I am thinking about adding some more stuff in the mix, but I find the regular DEI build pretty balanced in campaign, while BDR makes the combat in the battle maps more challenging.
1. Major Empires: Only Rome when not playing Rome, maybe Parthia, in all-battles mode than after Rome (and Parthia) are big enough, everybody I like to keep alive in defensive-only mode.
2. Andrew's naval pack
3. KAM's More challenging, BAI friendly battles
4. Global armor-bonuses mod (as soon as anybody tells me, where I find that)
4. First thing I do is increase the campaign actions points of artillery and elephants to normal infantry values. The concept that artillery would slow you down is a modern one. Ancient armies move slow anyway.
Oh, thanks for mentioning global armor upgradesIn late campaigns, it's always a hassle to upgrade your new/precious units.
@Cambion (even if google gives you the hit right away^^): http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...horse-optional
Else, am using not that much:
- several GFX stuff
- marble/limestone fix
- reduced civil war (edited and hopefully I should not get any in my current game, they are a bother in RII after some campaigns)
- global armor upgrades
- some minor "cosmetic" changes![]()
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite store on the Citadel!I'm Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favourite spot on the Citadel!

I use DEI mod alone, gives me great battles during very long campaigns, almost to lose war with 3 enemies right now turn 394. Play as Rome on Hard/realism battles.
Have to say that this thread gave me some nice inspiration and I am about to overcome my submod "aversion" at least partly. I usually don't like messing my data folder up too much but I think some additions might at least be worth a try.
So now I am looking for a nice music mod just for some change. But I am fairly lost in the steamworkshop as there are multiple music mods and I don't know which one to choose and some don't even have previews so I don't know what I can expect.
Can anyone point me into the right direction? I am looking for something with "ancient-style" music, you know with harps maybe? Something unobtrusive.
Here are the essentials, as I see it; nothing obtrusive, just lots of minor gameplay and aesthetic tweaks:
R2TW Mods in Use
Other than that, sometimes I use GEM for screenshots but I don't really use it that much for actual gameplay.
As for music mods, Hoplitus, I use Epic Music Pack 2.0 for lack of a better option. There are no high quality music packs out there that I have found other than movie/trailer/previous TW music. There are, however, plenty of ancient music playlists on YouTube. You could always put one of those on and turn off the in-game music. I used to do something similar with 18th century composers for ETW background music.
EDIT: One more that I forgot is this: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...r-Rome-2-V-1-6

Some mods here should be part of DEI. They are very good![]()
They don't use other modders' content without permission...besides, less effort is required on our part to share this stuff than on the modders' part in order to coordinate and consolidate mods from disparate authors. I'm just glad that there are threads like this so it isn't absurdly difficult for a new player to find the good stuff!![]()
