However having run vanilla setup and extractfiles as above when I try to run setup I get "error whilst attempting to create temp file" and I cannot change Late era option to Early- get eror message window.

I dont think that the patch has been applied properly.

Where should the 2 .bat files go?

Any ideas

if your getting the temp error, right click and select 'run as admin' from the menu.

If your installing the ss6.3/ss6.4 patch it uses the included installer (ss6.3.exe and/or ss6.4.exe respectively). thats the thing to right click.
