get a Dell Inspiron 9400. You can customize them to be quite powerful....and they're less expensive than other brands. I use one

Get the Gateway NX860X (The $1200 one in your link), its a much better deal than that HP. a 1.66ghz Core Duo isn't nearly as good as Gateways 1.83ghz Core 2 Duo.

You can also check Dell, try to get one with a good graphics card, thats the key to a good gaming computer. Get at least a 7600go.

You do NOT want any less than 2.0Ghz duo core for MTW 2. While the other specs of that laptop are good, the weak cpu will hold you back when you have more than 4000 men on screen. But, if you dont mind playing on large or less, i guess you'd get by.

You can't judge processors by their clock speeds, a 2.0ghz Core Duo is much faster than a 3 ghz Pentium 4. A 2.0ghz Core 2 Duo is faster than the fastest Pentium processors ever released (3.8ghz), it has about the same performance as an Athlon X2 4600+

2 gigs of ram makes no difference on performance, no games right now require 2 gigs of ram. Go with the Gateway from your first post.

well i play on large anyways. plus i turn off bloom and shadows in m2tw. i also turn grass/vegetation to medium or low because i dont really care for any of those options. ive played all the demo battles on this laptop, on high for everything except the above mentioned options. grass and vegetation were at medium. i didnt recieve any lag what so ever, yet with my old one i would even get a few lag spikes on all medium settings. i can now also play half life 2 on all high with hdr and have no lag too. isnt a 1.66ghz core duo just as good or better than my old 3.0 ghz?

even if its not, i think 2 gigs of ram really makes up for it. and this 7600 seems to be a lot better than my old x600.
