merchants you can place on goods ( like wool or silver or coal ) just walk on that spot and they will great money each turn. silver = ( in my game ) 22 florins each turn / textiel = 31 florins etc etc. you make merchants and place them all those place you can make big money out of it. Up to 100 of 1000st of florins.

With a spy you can click on a army or city for example to see whats in that army ( which legions archers etc ) so you know the strenght. Als a spy has a change to open de gates for you if you are lucky ( when you attack )

Priests can you put in islamtic countrys ( or other then catholic ) just let them stay there for a long time and you will see that province will get more catholics after a long time it can revolt ( from islam to catholic ) or if you conquor that city you dont have allot of islamitic people anymore ( so no revolt or less change for you )

assassin well its says it all you can kill just everything ......from the pope to generals or priests but also other assassins or spys.

well this is a short ..... but hope it helps you out some more

What's the most valuable resource? OR does it change, depeniding on how much of everything you have?

And how do your increase their economy skillz? Is it just by trading (ie let them be there for several turns), or just to "convert" enemy merchants? I hate Denmark, they converted my merchangs twice!
