I played for 3 hours now and can say it's the best and complexest total war since Med2.
I can't wait for some great mods.
Only problem for me, the battles are still way to fast. I can't handle every group because everyone is running around.
But I guess it will only take some time...
Ohhh god how great this game with a mod like BEI would be.
I am happy to read this Can not wait to play it finally
Can't vote in the poll but so far would give it an 8 or 9. And it should only get better from here......
Heh apparently I was talking tripe when I said it would be one of the best totalwar out there - apparently not! Some people just so eager to diss CA not matter what..

It's a quite good release...Much better than Rome's 2 release...
But need polishing and some patches to become better...
I must say that I´m impressed and pleased with the game. Stable, beautifull, entertaining, and most of all, immersive. everything Rome II is not even at this point (without mods of course). In my opinion a excellent release.
Among the things that I like the most are the building browser and building icons, way better than the liveless Rome II ones. So I think it rigthfully deserves a 9.
all this feedback is making me want to quit my job and go home...
I give it a solid 9. My favorite Total War by far. In my honest opinion, Vanilla Attila is as good as a heavily modded Rome 2.
Probably the best total war game in recent memory i've played. The AI is actually doing that's smart, Playing as the ERE i've had to restart about 3 times so far due to skin of the nose battles against damn migratory hordes- then the Sassanids declare too and it gets awesome. Most fun i've had on a Total War game in recent memory too
I'm surprised but I give it 8(expected 5-6). If not for the poor optimization...
Too early for me to honestly take the poll but feeling optimistic so far.
Those (like me) having not the game, probably are interested in reading also some comment about gameplay and battles, especially compared with Rome 2. I don't ask very much, just the vote and then one or even two lines ..
Since I am in a very good mood, I will imagine Rome 2 never existed and give this a 9.
This is encouraging.
I haven't seen an initial reaction this promising since... well, ever.
Maybe CA has finally come to its senses and realized its fanbase is not completely filled with mouth breathing 12 year olds who only want the "300" version of history?
This is my signature. Isn't it awesome?
Great, here it says the steam server is down, I blame you guys
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."
Pliny the Elder, Naturalis Historia, 7, 112
They have all the basics, AI is probably the best in recent times, family tree, complex campaign (good!), atmospheric and more.
All in all its a great all round game as a base, but it will be the mods and what is on offer to come that will excell the game to the same heights as Med 2.
