Right, so, I'm running SS6.4 with a heavily personalized variant of the HURB sub-mod, and out of nowhere, the starting FoW on the base imperial campaign map has become faulty. Never seen anything like it before.
This is before even doing anything with my faction. There's no CTDs or anything either from it(I bug hunt well), so what's the most likely culprit, so that I know better how to fix it?

Nope, no dice. I forgot to mention it at first, but this happens no matter what faction I play as, which I'm certain is relevant info. ...I think it might be something to do with the associated map files under data/world/maps/base, but I wouldn't know what to do with them.

easiest thing if you think its just a corruption is move your save file out, and reinstall stainless steel. Alternatively just install a new copy and try it on that (you can more than one copy of ss just name whichever one your currently trying to run ss6.3 and the other(s) to something else like ss6.3-copy).

I'll being doing that as a absolute last resort, I think. This came up just recently out of seemingly nowhere and that would be a bit drastic since I've have a lot of things tweaked/added.
Thank you for your assistance and time!

have you edited the map files at all? if not, just copy the new installs map files over onto your present install and see if that fixes it.

Somewhat, given that HURB plays around with the knightly order building trees and I went and made them as they were in regular 6.4.(changed to account for how the map and settlements on it were altered) The thing is is that in terms of the campaign map, I only ever mod what regions have what hidden_resources and what-not; I don't edit the map files themselves, I'm no good at that/don't know Geomod/etc.

I guess I'll WinMerge everything and see if that helps, not really much else I can think of.

just backup you install, reinstall a clean ss6.4 + Hurb and just copy over all the .txt files you tweaked into the clean install.

Sorry to necro this, but I found this thread via Google yesterday and had the same problem. I've since solved it and thought I'd share it for anyone else who finds this.

So this issue cropped after I brought across map files I have been making with Bare Geomod, into another mod, a copy of the Americas expansion campaign.

The pattern proved to be different depending on whether my map_fog.tga in the base folder was all white (255 255 255):

    Or all black (0 0 0):

It was the same for all factions and covered the entire map with a pattern, with the exception of the bottom one-third of the map. Error logs showed nothing.

The bottom one-third was the clue. My tall map was "pasted" over Americas' short map, so a file somewhere must still be in the shape of the Americas' map.

After a bit of headache, I checked the map files in both base and imperial_campaign again, and sure enough, this time I noticed another map_fog.tga, but in the imperial_campaign folder, not base. I'm not sure what it was doing there, but it was a leftover from the Americas' files, and sure enough, once I deleted it, the issue went away.

I'm unsure if this solution would have been applicable to the OP, and being one year ago it's probably moot by now, but I thought I'd share what I found anyway.
