I'm playing on Hard/Hard. Battle AI seems fairly intelligent (compared to RTW) too early to tell about the campaign.

max it Vh/Vh again same as RTW.

Also I am playing H/H aswell, good fun and harder than the RTW H/H, or at least I think. But my over cautious non blitzing style often makes it harder.

I'm playing on hard/hard, but i'm finding the battles very easy although the campaign itself is challenging as a catholic faction because of the pope. I'm playing as the scottish and have yet to loose a land battle even though i have conquered all of the british isles, most of fance and am holding off denmark and the HRE. I'm slightly frustrated at how easy the battles are. I'm finding that the kill ratio and rate at which the enemy route is just the same as rome (in the case of peasants it seems faster ). I must also say that the cavalry is very poor, for example, Templar knights get slaughtered by peasant archers after a melee breaks out and the charge doesn't work, lances are never used.

    Hard/Very Hard.

The game is giving me a good time thusfar (playing as HRE) , with Venice attacking me relentlessy and utilizing agents, while I fend of rebels. I also lost two battles (one resulting in loosing a city to Sicily) and nearly got defeated in the battle for Venice..I ended up sacking that city then though All that while the pope sent my heir on a crusade to weaken me.

It is definitely a challenge (the pope will probably excommunicate me for my latest acts) and the battles are not as easy as they used to be in RTW.

Oddly enough, Sicily managed to bribe Nuremberg to become Italian
