Default Rome 2 and DLC sale on, recommendations?

    Hey forum!

There is currently a sale on for Rome 2 and all the DLC.

I have the Greek DLC and thats it. I'm going to get the blood DLC (this is also modded by the DEI mod right?), but would anyone have any recommendations on the rest of the DLC? Any particular DLC that really works well with DEI?

The blood effects are unaffected by DeI. You can even use a blood mod in addition to DeI, I think.

The rest of the DLC work fine, with the possible exception of WoS. I haven't tried that one yet. Just depends which factions/mini-campaigns you're interested in.

Oh, and you don't need either of the two unit packs. Those units are not in DeI (except the Syrian elephants and Molossian hounds, but I don't think you need BoW for them in DeI).

Out of curiosity, are there any big/good mods (including DeI) that use any DLC content? For example (though I may be wrong) the way hoplons have been slightly altered in WoS, or something like that? I'm not talking about units though.

I only really ask because of my experiences with mods for Fallout and TES games sometimes using new stuff that got added in DLC and therefore requiring it for the mod to work.

DeI does not require any DLC to work. The bigger hoplons from WoS are planned to be added to DeI, but that change does not require WoS.

    Hey!

Like others already stated DeI doesn't require any DLC. Actually DeI is mainly focused on the grand campaign. Anyways I think "Ceasar in Gaul" and "Hannibal at the Gates" are really worth their money. Not only because of the added factions (which you then can also play in the GC!) but also because of their unique scenario.
"Wrath of Sparta" is also good and in my opinion even playable with vanilla. The added units plus the new greek factions and the different building/seasonal system really makes it worth a try if you have some money to spare.

I personally would even recommend getting those factional DLCs if they are cheaper than usual. Get those which got the factions you are interested in. I would recommend the "Black Sea Colonies" DLC just because of Pergamon and Arche Bosphorus. Those are really interesting factions in my opinion (but I have a thing for the Greeks anyways so might be a personal preference).

If you are really into this game and plan to play it a lot in the future and you are willing to invest some money then you can get them all. Alternatively my ranking would be:

    1. HATG
    2. WOS
    3. CIG
    4. Black Sea Colonies

EDIT: I am still hoping (and eagerly looking forward to) for a DeI overhaul of Colchis!

EDIT 2: The least recommendable DLCs in my opinion are "Beasts of War" and "Daughters of Mars" as most of their units are more like fantasy and not even present in DeI. I also just checked the Steam store and everything is like 75% off, so really cheap! If you are into this game take the occasion and get what you want!

I didn't know the other campaigns added more playable factions!

Pretty much bought all of the DLC bar the Spartan campaign, beasts of war and the daughters of mars. Terrified now I wont have time to play

I just buy all of them to support Rome 2, plus you get all of them in DEI if we support them.

Thanks for the notice. Just picked up CiG and HatG, which I didnt have yet. I just play the DeI main campaign so I take the DLCs which add to it. WoS and Beasts of whatever I dont need, at all. The others are worth it (at least at these prices).

only purchase the blood dlc, CiG or HatG, everything else is DLC that was stripped from the game so they could make more cash and as far as i can see WoS is a reskinned campaign map. unless the prices are 3$ or under, dont bother.
