Default Flaming shot for horse archers

    Hi everyone

I am sick of this feature really. This make really NO SENSE.NO SENSE AT ALL.How this even possible.İs there any historical source about that.I mean lets think about it.How the guy on horse flame his arrow? With a lighter? Also flaming javelins not make sense too.

Im support only foot-archers for flaming shot.NOTHİNG ELSE.

What you guys think about that? Please share

Edit:Ca should add this horse if they like horse flaming shot

I had forgot about this "feature" because it had been modded out so early on in the Rome 2 release saga. I am sure someone will defend it in here, give it a few hours.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

I believe only footarchers have flaming shot now in Rome II, not completly sure when it changed though.

I don't even remember when horse archers actually had fire arrows in R2. But the flaming javelins, as you call them, are clearly lightsabers, duh.

Well...horse archers have them in Attila and it makes no sense at all.

Is there a reason for this?

    Because Fun > Realism

They're there for fun. They're useless in game and have very little base in history (i.e. none) but it's probably there so people can make awesome moments like setting buildings on fire with them.

If you don't want em in, use mods!

They are not useless in Attila...they hugely affect the enemy's morale and set fire to settlements and forests.

The most realistic approach I have seen to fire arrows is in the Stronghold series, where they can only be used by archers standing near a brazier.

There's a little thing called torches that can serve much the same role in a mobile capacity. Have one in five men carry and pass it around rather then shooting, with or without a horse. It drops rate of fire, but again, flaming arrows already sacrifice much of their rate of fire (among other things) anyway.

It would certainly be a better use for the torches then burning down city gates at throwing distance.

Horse Archers are hot, therefore fire arrows for them

A horse archer could conceivably use flaming shot, seeing as his horse is already trained for battle (part of that being flame), and there's nothing stopping him using the right type of arrow. Lighting said arrow is the only real limitation, though he doesn't have a harder time then a foot archer in that regard.

It'll of course have all the usual problems of flaming shot though--reduced range, minimal penetration and a fire rate that grinds to a halt. Its really not a very practical thing to do in that 99% of the time you're not fighting elephants...
This is actually one of the things the game reflects reasonably well.

Imo, flaming arrows are OK on horse archers as they are not historical accurate.

They can be easily modded out, so I'm not too angry about this unrealistic feature.

Really no point in not removing them. It's not about accuracy but basic logic.
Though flaming arrows are quite useful, more so in Attila Tw

I'm just confused, if CA removed them from R2, why would they bring them back? Because of all the fire in Attila?

We need fire on everything. Swords, axes, helmets, maille. Set the general on fire as a leading example.
