Playing what I consider a well-executed and pretty natural game with Pergamon:
- Immediately rushed Sardis and Ipsos before they got garrisoned. Plundered both to get going money-wise.
- Destroyed Seleucid reinforcement army in the battle map a couple times.
- Rushed Halicarnassos and other Ptolemie cities in Asia Minor, including an invasion on Salamis to cast them out and focus them on fighting Seleucids on one Palestinian front.
- Signed peace/alliance with Ptolemies after they no longer bordered me.
- Took Mazaka with my army and made Tarsos revolt from Seleucids courtesy of my spies.
- Sold Mazaka (and later Tarsos) to Pontos in exchange for an alliance to create a buffer there.
- Peaced with Seleucids as we no longer shared a border.
- Having secured my eastern flank with strong phalanx garrisons to deter AI from trying to siege, I proceeded to invade and conquer Greece and got the required 21 cities by that point in my game.
- Meanwhile I took Ankyra destroying the rebel army it starts with.
At this point I have enough cities to get all reforms and all that, but: NO REFORM.
I tried abandoning Ankyra, but it revolted to Arverni. Now, if it revolts from them, it won't have enough garrison to count for the sort of a rebel army I am required to defeat to get my reforms. I tried sending a disloyal general to the region with an army of mine but he refuses to go rebel for a while now.
I love the faction and they are the new Baktria for me, I wouldn't want to restart with someone else yet.
So; What do I do? Can I salvage my campaign? And how do I play Pergamon from start to ensure reforms actually happen? :-(
