I'm gonna take you up on your offer if that's alright
Firstly let me re-iterate my previous praise; your work on the High Elves is phenomenal. The High Elves are without question my favorite faction, I've played with them numerous times in vanilla Third Age (as well as Imladris in DaC). Just like everyone here, I'm a big fan of LL's improvements to the faction, yet I always envisioned that even the base units needed upgrades, and man did you deliver.
Comments & Suggestions
Units (In General)
They're awesome, love the capes, ok that's out of the way...
1. Below the bow-quendi you have written "quendi bow ug1" and below the sword-quendi it says "quendi sword ug2". In short, does this mean that both Quendi units will in fact have "double upgrades", i.e. the bow-quendi in the first image can upgrade to the "look" of the sword-quendi in the second?
2. Do you plan on "brunette-iffying" (making more of the units dark/brown haired) the Quendi units just a little bit? I like that there are blonde elves interspersed amongst the ranks instead of a solid dark-brown, however the High Elven population would have been technically more dark/brown-hair dominant. Again, I'm all for including blonde elves in the Quendi, it's just that they seem to dominate the ranks a little at this point. A minor issue but thought I'd mention it.
3. Do you envision your new model of the Nosterino Warriors as an upgrade, or simply as a new and non-upgradable "look". (I didn't see a ug1 or anything similar so I just thought I'd ask)
4. Is it possible to remove this awkward nose piece for all the hooded Nosterino Warriors, It looks a little out of place (perhaps it's just me, either way I love the new "look", the capes are a welcome addition).
5. The Mithlond Nobles look like BAMFs. I really like the fact that you've changed them to a two-handed unit and made them more "buff". They look like they mean business, superb work sir, absolutely stunning.
6. I like where you're going with making the elven nobles more "knightly". However, I'm not a fan of the shields you put on them. I know that they're copies from the Eregion Smiths (and I wasn't a fan of them being added to those either) but they don't look very "elven", they sharp angles and stiff lines are more reminiscent of dwarven craftsmanship than elven. If I may recommend that the original Eldar shield be used, but perhaps with some tweaks and embellishments.
The three shields shown above are all original Noldor Elven Shield, the first being yours (from your edited Mithlond Nobles), the second being the original Eregion Smith shield, and the third being Gil-Galad's original design used in LL's Mithlond Nobles. May I suggest that for the Elven Nobles you use the first shield (your silver-design) and add a splash of color with the first or second "Jewel" in the center. This way they'd look more akin to the rest of the Eldarinwe Units, (as well as more elven) but also show their "elite status" with an ornate shield.
7. As it pertains to the Eregion Smiths, I'm very excited about any changes that you will be implementing. I am a big fan of the original design made by LL as opposed to the currentversion...
Granted, my main dislike of the current models are the shields, although I also favor the uniform appearance of the original-models where they all have Eldarinwe Armor (Although the Galahdrim Armor encrusted with Jewels isn't to bad). The main thing here is the shields, they look like dragon-bone shields from Skyrim instead of sleek and polished elven-shields. These are supposed to be the remnants of the finest smiths of Middle Earth, I feel like they should have a more ornate, and de-facto elven shield (like the one's posted earlier). Whatever you do to change their look, please consider giving the Eregion smiths more elven shields, even tweaked, as the current one's just look very much out of place.
Frankly I'm very interested what you plan on doing with these guys. Do you plan on giving them head-to-toe armor (they are smiths after all), giving them a uniform upgrade of "super-smiths", perhaps giving them more jewels and other ornamentations. All in all I'm very excited, these guys most assuredely need some tlc.
8. Lastly, the Elven Noble/General needs a little touch up. I'm talking about the actual Elven Commander Guy.
Up to till now the Elven Commander has been strictly a copy of Elrond at the Battle of Helms Deep. I propose "sprucing-up" this model with some material from WETA (Some sort of head piece is defidently in order)
~For example, using motifs and designs from Gil-Galad's armour (sure he was the last High Elven King etc., but I honestly feel that here one can take an artistic license) Also, HEAD-PIECE!
OR, perhaps making a top to bottom gold model like this new and improved Elrond (Is that a headpiece? Why yes it is!)
So that's the end of my list (for now
) Love what your doing, can't wait to see more of your stuff.
Warmest Regards,
Everto
