Gamespot just had an exclusive stream playing as the Huns in what I assume is the latest build here: http://www.twitch.tv/gamespot/b/621190831
Anyway after watching the whole stream here are some of the notes I compiled of new gameplay details, mostly taken from the devs answering questions on the stream:
- Battles past the early game will be (on average) slower than Rome 2 : EE
- Early tier units rely heavily on the general, and will break easily without one
- Roman troops won't be as affected by the death of general, due to "disciplined" trait
- Fatigue applies massive combat penalties, But also recovers very fast. designed to encourage cycling of troops, walking reduces fatigue
- Hordes will get penalties for having multiple armies (tribes?) in the same province
- Julian was on the AI team for Attila, and the siege AI is now "much much better"
- Longer sieges mean more defensive deployables for the defenders
- They want to win back the fans with a more "hardcore" experience in Attila
- There are dedicated "scout units" which have excellent vision and can hide, but suck in combat
- Many leaders will have their own unique models in battle
- Any ship with oars can reverse (
ing finally)
- "Take on Warriors" no longer lowers army integrity
- They've improved the strategic map feature to try and encourage more people to use it (although they didn't say or show how)
- They've added an extra large garrison for Constantinople
Really disappointed they ended the stream right before sieging Constantinople, didn't get to see if torches are still in the game.
