SS 6.4 Amazon digital download installation

Hi,

I've been trying to get SS 6.4 to work with my Amazon digital download of Medieval II (Gold) (http://www.amazon.com/Medieval-Gold-.../dp/B000YQ639M)

I have tried updating Kingdoms to 1.5, installing SS 6.4, but it will not run. I have also tried installing the Gold edition and not updating (so 1.4), and it will also not run.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting an "unspecified error" when I'm running on 1.5.

When I run on 1.4, it loads the splash screen and then closes to desktop.

I am running Windows 7 64bit. I have UAC turned off.

One thing: there seems to be some confusion online about patching Kingdoms to 1.5 with the Digital Download Amazon version (and perhaps other DDs). I found one executable that claimed to be for DD versions. Perhaps the Amazon version is a wierd version?

you don't really have to have 1.5 for ss. If its from amazon us then use the us version of the 1.5 patch, if its from amazon outside the us/north america us the europe/uk version.

Does 6.3 work and just not 6.4? or do both not load?

Just tried 6.3. Says "Not enough campaigns or files missing"

ok that means the installer is getting pointed wrong it think.

Try installing it to your desktop than manualing copying all the files into your mod folder.

Ok I tried installing 6.3 on my desktop and installing it. I still received the same error message. Oh, and in system.log.txt I found this:

ok try copying this into your ss6.3/data/ folder: (attached)

If that doesn't fix it...it still looks like for some reason the installer isn't working correctly. Have you followed the steps in my guide (my signature)?

Also try installing normally to the mods folder, then copying over a separately installed copy of the install (from the desktop or wherever) and see if any files are missing....

I have a few other ideas but they're more complicated.
