Piracy in Terra Nova

Demetrius watched as his ship entered a more populated part of the Terra Nova system. Word from various merchant contacts told him that an independent merchant was operating with the permission of the lord of Terra Nova as well as the trade fleets of the lord himself. A few quick words from Demetrius are all that is needed to start his crew scanning space in search of the trade convoys. He had waited so long for this moment, revenger against those who considered themselves his betters. He would wipe the smiles off their faces with his depredations and raids. They would go frantic from the sheer amount of money they lost to him. He grinned as he waited for his men to inform him of what the scanners were picking up.

OOC: Terra Nova has 3 trade fleets and Tailles has 2 trade fleets in the system as well.

1st roll: to determine whether or not a convoy is found and, if so, who it belongs to. 1/10 chance that nothing is found.

Raiding Roll: 2 (+5 from traits) = 7 - The victims get an SOS call out as the attack is underway. Defenders arrive after the raid has happened.

Still doesn't change much it seems. You still gotta defend against an Escort Frigate or retreat.

Demetrius watched as the Escort Frigate came into range following the looting of the trade convoy. Such a prize would give his fleet much needed firepower and to keep the loot he had gained he would also need to defeat her. Orders were given for all weapons to target and open fire on the enemy ship and defend with all their might. Hopefully fate favored him on this day.

OOC: Admiral trait plus 2 so +2 for my ship I think?

OOC: It seems you only have the +2 Admiral you gave your char. No +2 from your ship that I can see.

Been informed by another mod that in 1v1 battles, ships cannot be captured.

Attacking Side (+2 to rolls): Piranha = Attack: 30. // Defence: 30. // Anti-Air: 50. // Speed: 10 // Hold Space: 20.

Battle Rolls
Escort Frigate = 30*7 Attack / 30*9 Defence = 210 Attack / 600 Defence = 35%
Piranha = 30*9 Attack / 30*20 Defence = 270 Attack / 270 Defence = 100%

Post-Battle Rolls
50/50 chance of being disabled or damaged (1 - 5: Damaged, 6 - 10: Disabled) = 5, Damaged

The Escort Frigate takes a beating from the Piranha. Despite its damage, the frigate breaks from combat and limps away at best speed for the closest friendly outpost. The trade fleet is now at the mercy of Demetrius.

Raiding Rolls
2% of 30,000 = 600 Crowns
d20 roll = 17
17*600 = 10,200 Crowns from raiding the Terra Nova trade fleet
Bonus (from trait) = 2% of 10,200 Crowns = +204 Crowns

Total from Raiding = 10,404 Crowns

Demetrius quickly gave orders to his subordinates, "Forward shields to full power now! Focus our fire in one sector to burn through their shields quicker!". His men quickly obeyed and the enemy's fire was mostly negated as it splashed against the now strengthened shields. His own fire was much more effective, breaking through the shields in several places and doing serious damage to the enemy escort frigate's hull. The enemy's captain declined to continue taking such damage and Demetrius yelled with triumph as it fled back to Terra Nova. The much slower fuel tankers had no chance for an escape, and when surrender was demanded all complied, though some with reluctance. Small crews were put on each tanker while the captives were directed to the life pods and lifeboats. All the tankers taken were quickly taken to a rendezvous and sold to a shady trader who paid in cash. Demetrius had accomplished his initial goal and more, the lord of Terra Nova had learned that no longer would the commoners hide in the dark or bow in subservience. He would take the fight to nobility everywhere and cause what havoc he could. Once he was done, history would remember the name Demetrius Skylord...
