Default ATI X1950 XT vs ATI X1950 XTX

New ATI X1950 XT card is out, side by side comparison of differences in both cards:

ATI X1950 XT vs ATI X1950 XTX

    Core clock: 625MHz vs 650MHz
    Memory Clock: 1800MHz vs 2000MHz
    Memory Size: 256MB vs 512MB
    Memory Type: GDDR3 vs GDDR4

How much of a difference is there between both cards, will the difference be obvious during game play?

Well, the XTX obviously kicks the XT's ass, and if you have a lot of money to burn like me then the XTX is worth it, however if you are on a budget then just go with the XT. Although the one you listed was the 256mb version, most have 512mb.

If you're going to buy a x1950xtx you might as well stretch a 70 dollars further and get a 8800GTS

I agree, now that the 8 series came out there is no point getting any high end ATI cards anymore. Wait a week or so for the 8 series' price to drop, then get one.

Well, I really like Nvidia, always have really, but still I can assure you I wouldn't mind having a X1950... preferably a XTX of course!
It's all a matter of buying the best GPU available and like rayzzz said, for like 50$ more you can get a DX10 8800 GTS!
That's not something you should ignore, even if you prefer Ati over Nvidia.

By the way Black Hawk, didn't you list two XTs? I'll just go ahead re-post a couple from newegg.
    1 - X1950 XTX - 512MB GDDR4 (450$ OUCH)
    2 - X1950 XT - 256MB GDDR3 (300$)

You like to be loyal to a multi-national corporation worth billions of dollars which is built upon the investment of big business men, a company which has also just been gobbled up by another mega-corporation (AMD)........ I really wonder why people insist on one camp or the other.

Okay leave the ATI people alone. Lets just sit down and play some Total War. Feel the love all!
