Genealogy/Ethnic Traits
So, I was a pretty big EB player back in the day and one of the things that I liked was the Genealogy traits, you know, the ones that said where the character came from. Could this be put in DEI?
I know Rome 2 only has, what, 3 trait slots but I would be happy if one could be taken up by Genealogy.
For example: Romans obviously have many families; Carthage can have Phoenicians, Liby- Phoenicians, Iberian- Phoenicians, Helleno- Phoenicians; Ptolemy could have Descendants of Ptolemy, Normal Makedonians and Native Egyptians, Gallic and Germanic Characters have loads of different tribes that they could come from, and Greeks, from what city they are from( you'd have to role play this if you're playing a Greek faction and get someone from another city state, but that's part of the fun
).
Each ethnicity could have various bonuses and penalties.
I am quietly hopeful something like this could be added in the future.

Re: Genealogy/Ethnic Traits
Unfortunately i fear that the whole R2 system does not fit at all with the "family concept". If you consider it well you don't even have a family, you're just fooled into thinking it by the game. All you get is a bunch of totally random characters with no relations to each other. There is no family tree, there are no births, sons, fathers etc etc. After you lose your first faction leader you wont ever see a character with your family's name. It would probably be better to just rename those "families" into political parties. For example for Rome we could have "populares" and "optimates". The real problems are all those factions that represent a true kingdom with a proper royal dinasty, like all the successors states, but i fear that there is very little that can be done for them with the poor system R2 brought to us.

I like the idea, but sadly Rome2 is to limited
how could they think this new system was any better than the old Rome/Medieval2 version, it baffels me why they did all the extra work to put in this limited system when they had a perfectly fine one already.

Re: Genealogy/Ethnic Traits
It's true. It makes me sad how far this franchise has strayed from the format they had for Rome and Medieval 2. I started playing on Shogun 1, and have owned every title (not all expansions, but each of the main releases) and I have to say that M2 was my far and away favorite.
Sure, Napoleon (+Darth Mod) had some of my favorite BATTLES, but if we're examining the game on the whole, M2. And it wins by an even larger margin if we just look at the campaign.
I keep hoping they make a M3, but if the current trend continues, we're looking at nondescript generals, cartoony graphics, arcade gameplay, and terrible and unchangeable battle AI.
Here's hoping Bannerlord gets released soon.
