Here's my reply, nearly 2 years too late.

Yes, but it looks unlikely now. Would help if I knew about graphic stuff but writing/editing not a problem.

No certainly not. ATW ranges from 486 to 680, VLL from about 620 to the high ME. ATW = late antiquity til the end of the Migration Period (and a bit further but it becomes increasingly inaccurate especially towards 600 AD), VLL = early to high ME

Yes - the political situation is significantly different in the later era... ATW is brutal and tribal. I hope it rises again in some form, or at least is updated!

Im hugely late to the party but I'd love to see ATW remade on the M2TW engine. I'd also be happy to help out with beta testing and bug fixing.
However i feel I'm too late and the ship has already sailed.

Main concern is not reskinning or remodelling units- there are plenty of resources to work with there already- most of them open source. The big problem in making this complete for M2TW would be new buildings, mainly things like walls. However, I think it is possible with being selective about what is there. The mod would do well as a Roman Empire mod rather than just Britain in my view. Something similar to Barbarian Invasion. Great to see this triumph of modding still well-loved and being played.

Yeah so what's happening with this then, will it ever take off the ground? I personally would love to see an ATW2 as would many others, ATW is a brilliant mod! The music in particular for it is quite sublime very evocative of the Dark Ages.

The M2TW-engine is inferior in my opinion. Let's see how R2TW is going to unfold.

Funny I came to this forum to say the exact same thing...I loved ATW, in spite of its brutal difficulty and the fact that it took time to create stable script files to avoid CTD's - the mod is still on my hard drive three computers later! - Either way, if you want to see an updated version of this mod using many of the same units and geography, then follow the aforementioned link! The new mod seems stable, and is still being updated with new units and factions.
