Default Question to the Total War Youtubers

I'd love to hear your genuine opinions on the preview builds of Atilla you've gotten. Specifically the stuff CA wouldn't really talk about, like the AI and how the new mechanics are. However, I've only seen the channel mention some complaints with this game. Even then the complaints were worded really mildly, which leads me to believe a lot of these youtubers are shills for CA for example - links/names removed. You can post your complaints regarding their previews directly in the comment section of these videos, if you wish. TWC doesn't condone the practice of naming and shaming, seeing that all those people you mentioned are also members of this site - Maximinus Thrax

To clarify i didn't get a preview build, but i know a few that did(Will remain unnamed). And i hear battles feel very Rome IIish and that the campaign map could be choopy/laggy(will most likely be fixed and optimized)

I don't think any youtubers are afraid of expressing themselves honestly. There is a lot of goodwill to be had currently by bashing CA and riling up the mob, so if it was worse then anticipated you would hear about it.

Expect Rome II battles, Attila setting with a little bit more RPG to the campaigns.

This thread will remain open as long as the discussion will revolve around the Youtube previews of this game. Please refrain from personal references and such.

Off-topic posts removed. I see that people here are more interested in discussing other members rather than the content of the Attila previews.

I am always skeptical of these You Tube videos, they never delve into the mechanics of the games. They just enter the campaign and mention everything positive they can -even if the feature is 10 yeas old. Whatever negative opinions are drawn are usually discreetly tip toed around like a mouse in a cat laboratory.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

    Indeed.

Wait, I seriously can't mention the names of youtube channels? It is totally relevant to this board and they have pretty exclusive access to a game this board is about, and I can't mention their youtube accounts?
    Jesus these mods man

    Alright that's fine,
I'd hope those youtubers that are LIONHEARTED would value their audience enough to not neglect telling us about flaws in the game from the preview builds they showed. After all we sure would appreciate some candid feedback about battle ai and how well mechanics are implemented. Are there still any WARRIORS OF SPARTA in the game?

There shouldn't be a problem asking these people to post their impressions here, as long as you don't refer to them as being shills. That way we'll now that you created this thread with good intentions, and not to slander them.

It's really funny when a let's play youtuber praises a game and goes at great lengths why he loves it, then the sequel comes out that pisses on it and is an utter spit in the face of the franchise, yet the same youtuber continues playing the new sequel and conveniently avoids the problems.

Don't get me wrong there are ones who are still criticizing/praising, but unfortunately I don't think they are the majority.

DarrenTotalWar has a video in which he is rather critical of the preview build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYT-ojkuozg . Other then that I think you need to understand that a lot of these youtubers are massive fans of the franchise and might actually enjoy or not care about the things that bother others.

Then they should be completely ignored, and sensible human beings be given preview copies.

You don't consider people with different opinions to yours to be sensible human beings? Darrens review is fine but it's mostly predicted on the fact that he doesn't like R2's battle system which many others do. I myself am more concerned about the campaign in Attila which he seems to think is good? So from my perspective there aren't any major problems.

That guy is the only one I have seen that gives an objective analysis of the game.

I have a friend who host a survival Knives utube show and he reviews many knives. He tells me of many such `user` shows which are just there to advertise one product. Some aren`t necessarily paid but they get free stuff from the company and they WANT to keep getting free stuff. The company only gives free stuff if they say only nice things. Unfortunately, this kind of thing is everywhere and the good few are sometimes hard to find.

All I can say is be watchful and careful. Look at as many `objective` reviews you can find and question everything. question convenient cuts in gameplay. Question straight questions not answered. Question, question, question, if 90% of your politely asked questions go ignored- Treat that as not good and go elsewhere.

People have to be very smart and careful these days.

Watched another you tube video today, what is with the auto tower collapse at city gates? I have seen this a few times, what on earth? No wonder this title is where it is. The talent left a few years ago.

Requesting someone to give an honest opinion with an OP that is accusatory is pretty much...... During Rome II, this community claim not to trust previewers who did this for a living. The CA allows many independant previewers (which is not actually the first time though) and the community still do not trust ?

I have lost any sense of trust and respect into this community.
