Crash at Title

So I installed both 3.0 parts, then the 3.2 patch. I put it under americas and it starts, but crashes within seconds of seeing the initial Third age total war screen. Help would be much appreciated, I am not sure what else to do.

Why have you put TATW under americas, did you just rename Third_Age_3 folder to americas, or, you installed TATW into americas folder? Do you have Steam M2TW perhaps?

I renamed it americas, my apologies. And yes it is through steam

Go here ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...h-pictures-!-) ) and use one of three methods mentioned in a section named: Steam installation of Third Age TW.

If I were you, I would do this:
the folder where TATW files are located ( americas folder) rename it back to Third_Age_3. Then use method 2 explained in the link I've gave you.

ElvenKind you seem to be the foremost expert on these forums because I have seen you on alot of different modders pages and always helping.. please help I am trying to enjoy some submods to help immerse me into my gondor campaign more but something is messing up, new units I install and it works..Gondor Former Glory or MOS and ctd almost instantly..I always reinstall and have a clean vaniila 3.2 for GFG or MOS and nevr gets past first 5 or 10 seconds of startup. PLease let me know if you can help me..It is driving me nuts not having any of these larger submods! new units and blood and dirt okay but i need more.

1) Rename americas folder back to Third_Age_3

2) Open this Third_Age_3 folder, find Third Age.BAT(batch) file, right mouse click on .BAT file and press Edit.

3) replace kingdoms.exe text line with medieval2.exe text line.

Save and Exit.

4) Double mouse click on Third Age.BAT file to start Third Age TW

I am having the same issue aswell, thus I have not been able to play TaTw in the past six months. It quite simply will not function.
-Now, the BAT-file will not change, it merely states that I cannot alter the kingdoms to medieval2.

Does it mean that I am going to have to remove once again the entire game and re-install it yet once more?

edit. It merely states that `access is denied´ when I attempt to alter it.

Where do you find the Third age.BAT ive looked in the Third_Age_3 folder but cant find it

Go here ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...h-pictures-!-) ), and do the first step explained for Windows Users: Edit Security for your main M2TW folder. Then try again. If it still says Access denied, then right mouse click on Third Age.bat file, go to Properties, and turn off/uncheck Read-Only Attribute. Apply and OK. Try again.

-I was able to change the "kingdoms" with "medieval2", I also altered the daylight settings.

The same result, it crashes right after start-up.
-It's frustrating, as this is the finest game I have played.

What else could I do?
-I have deleted and installed the game twice now.

If you have Steam M2TW version, it messed up almost all M2TW and Kingdoms mods with the latest update regarding multiplayer, CA does it again.

Nice to hear your game works now. If you are going to play vanilla TATW 3.2 only, I would suggest to install these bugfixes as well: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes

If you tend to install some submods for TATW 3.2, I would suggest to make a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere, so you can just copy/paste it into your M2TW/ mods folder for submods.

It is Third Age "batch" file (BAT). If it's not present there, then tell me, do you have Windows 7,8 or Vista, and is your M2TW Steam or Non Steam version?

Hey i have the same problem, i cant find this "Batch" file

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

If you want to post a screenshot, you can upload it to TinyPic, and then post it here.

There should be a .batch ( BAT ) file in your Medieval II TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3 folder.

Something is wrong, you are missing TATW.CFG file, Third Age.batch file and some others.. Are you sure you installed it correctly?

If I were you, I would delete this whole Third_Age_3 folder, and then, go here, and apply these steps explained in section named BOTH STEAM and NON STEAM M2TW Users !!!

After that, apply step 3. explained in section named STEAM INSTALLATION OF THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR ( step 3. is selecting a method to start your TATW, there are three methods).
