    Default So unbelievably frustrated with this mod

    The mod is amazing, and to go back to vanilla seems impossible at this point, but the CTDs are putting everything within smashing range in jeopardy. I've restarted my english campaign at least 3 times after getting to about turn 50+ thinking that the new modification I had made fixed the "Fatal Graphic Error" and "Unspecified Error" crashes, but when I'm in the thick of a new campaign, they rear their ugly head once again. I've tried installing the bugfix compilation, lowering graphic settings to FAR below what my rig is capable of, and am still walking on eggshells every battle (the only time I crash is during battles) thinking to myself "it didn't crash last battle, surely it's going to this time".

    I am at my wits-end trying to resolve the issues in this mod. I've done probably 100+ google/forum searches on every crash I've experienced, making little tweaks here and there, and seem no closer to resolving these CTDs. I've read multiple threads with afew different techniques on fixing crashes, but alot of the explanations seem to lack the depth someone like me (doesn't have very much experience going into game files and tweaking) needs in an explanation.

    On the demand of the forum bug posting rules, I'll provide the necessary crashing info as per Gracul's post:

    Turn: No turn in particular. It seems more prevalent and common later in the campaign (past turn 30 or so) and as England, I don't have many problems when battling Scotland. The CTDs are far more frequent when fighting France, and The HRE. I have NO problem getting the game to start, and loading saves. The crashes only seem to happen during BATTLES.

    I feel your pain and I'm sorry I don't have any help for you. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. It seems the only enemy I'm not sure if I can beat right now is the CTD.

    Download and install the latest germanicus battle AI. That should fix most of the errors.

    I have downloaded just about everything I could find, so I'll be surprised if I haven't downloaded it before but I'll give it a shot. Will I have to restart the campaign (yet again!) after downloading it?

    Those are errors in the campaign_script. Which only reloads with a new game start unfortunately. It's pretty strange actually.. it shows you have the version 5.7 installed. However, we in SSHIP had the same problem with those errors but reinstalling the newest version solved it.

    I don't understand. If the problem is in the campaign script why would i want to download an AI mod especially if I think the AI is difficult enough as it is. Yes, I'm terrible at the game but someone has to be right?

    Although after that last crash I'm pretty upset so I'll try anything. I went through and looked at what it offered and I really don't want a limit on how many commands I can give out in a given period or a limit to how long it takes me to deploy my troops.

    Germanicus has somehow "outsourced" the battle AI into the campaign_script if I'm correct. No clue how that actually works but it does.

    You don't need to use the hardcore version, so you won't have those problems. Just try to install the SS-specific version first and see if it fixes those errors. If not, try the other version (only if you know how to install the files ofc).

    So if I check off the hardcore version on the campaign selection set-up screen then I won't experience these?

    Thanks MWY. I'll see what happens. I believe I read that it was save-game compatible so we'll see.

    Edit: well so much for that idea. Downloaded it, installed it, started new campaign just in case and only got to turn 14 before it gave me an unspecified error during a siege. Think I'm done with the game until this can be traced down for good. After playing for 139 hours I haven't had a chance to even beat it without CTD destroying it. Good luck Reaper.

    I still cannot comprehend all the CTD complaints.

    I haven't had a single CTD while playing SS ever.

    Do you have adequate PC specs?
    Have you installed SS 6.3 and after that 6.4 on a clean M2TW 1.5 patched version?

    @Marius Marich I'm really happy you've never had the CTD's because they really are just a PITA. Unfortunately I'm not making them up My specs are in the other thread along with the version I'm using. Its M2TW Kingdoms 1.5.2.0.

    Oh and sorry for sounding all whinny last night with the above comments, its just very upsetting to get into a campaign, get your plan all lined out and then CRASH! lol Or get into a battle, get everything where they need to go, hit GO and CRASH!

    As I try to download the G5 5.7 mod, I can't seem find the correct folder to put it in (or something), and while it's installing it tells me that it doesn't detect stainless steal. I have the game on steam.
