    Default Revolt in Sinai, Egypt?

    http://news.yahoo.com/militant-attac...200238585.html

Cairo (AFP) - At least 25 people were killed, most of them Egyptian soldiers, when militants fired rockets and set off a car bomb Thursday in the Sinai Peninsula, officials said.

The assault targeted a military base, a nearby police headquarters and a residential complex for army and police officers in El-Arish, the provincial capital, as well as a checkpoint in Rafah, on the border with Gaza, the security and health officials said
It seems that Sinai has openly revolted against the Egyptian regime. It was inevitable since Cairo has enforced very strict measures in Sinai. Generally speaking the situation in Egypt has made a turn for the worst in the last months. Demonstrations have increased, economical problems have increased and now this. If Egypt collapses that would be a nightmare. I dont think it will happen though

Hmm, is that really different to the usual Sinai business? And is that open revolt? Surely it takes more than one incident for that.

I doubt anyone here, even those who support FSA, support the Sinai terrorists

Claims of independence constitute a revolt; this is no rebellion, just some Jihadists that settled in Sinai (ISIS affiliated, if the reports I've read are to be believed) clashing with the Egyptian military.

Like I know the Egyptians, the response will be quick to come, and heavy handed. I wish them luck.

Sinai didn't get out of hand it just the terrorist attacks are trying to prove they are there because if you look in the last few months the Egyptian Army with the police have been giving them really heavy blows. The only place that it is kind of bad is North Sinai. Fighting terrorist who came from Gaza or hide among the Bedouins in Sinai isn't easy, it takes time and the army came along way from 2011.

Amazing how mentioning even the slightest incident in the Arab-Israeli conflict kicks up a storm, but go some 150 km southwest into Sinai, and you can kill ten times the people for a tenth of the press...

Apparently its only interesting when westerners are doing either the killing or the dying.
