Default Historical accuracy and info on some of DeI's units?

Now I love historical accuracy, so much so that my current Rome campaign follows the rules of real Rome, with a 1:1 ration of Auxiliary to Legionaries.

Now something I noticed when a Cantabri army was nearby, the unit called Dobosaverlacica aka "Ebherni Spearmen" Same with the Vasci shock troops.

Where did the info for these units come from? My searches for the last two days have lead to nothing coming up except a book called the Sword of Neamha. I see they were in Europa Barbarorum but were removed after a lot of debate whether they were historically accurate or not. I understand how gray it can be to find units and populate the rosters, but I just want to know. Plus the Ebherni are Irish, yet the Ebdani in game don't get them, but the Iberian do?

Are there any units in DeI that seem unrealistic or have a lack of real history with them?

Im pretty sure that extensive research has gone into all units in this mod. If Im not mistaken one of the researchers is Ritter-Floh.

Yes, but also Europa Barbarorum is one of the main sources used for many units, and it's true that their units aren't always accurate...

And certainly, some later reform units for many factions never really existed, but are more of a "what-if" scenario.

the main problem with many EB 1 units is that we do not know the sources used by the EB 1 team and some of their sources are obsolete now. This means, we have to remove the Goidilic units from DeI (maybe 3 units in all). But Augustusng is right, some reform units are more "what if", pike units for the dacian tribes for example, but that does not mean those units are not historic or hollywood style.

It seems both the north Iberian and Irish were Gaelic.
One of the units you mentioned is a "cataphract" heavy Iberian cavalry depicted on walls, there is a debatt wether their armor was metal or leather.
