Playing Carthage and I've laid siege to Brundisium controlled by the Romans.. They have two armies (one in the city, one in the port, plus the garrison) for a grand total of roughly 9,000 men.
they first attempted to break out by attacking my two land-based armies that totaled 6,000 men, but failed to push through.
On the next turn they launched an attack against my paltry fleet, consisting of lower level assault ships with only 60 Libyan hoplites aboard each. Their total army was roughly 3500 troops against my 767. But, their ships were all weak transports, and I can ram.
I proceeded to ram them to kingdom-come, my 12 units squaring off against their 22, and sent them to the oceans depths.
Now, if I had auto-resolved this battle I lose because of the ridiculous numerical advantage plus the quality of the troops they were throwing at me. However, this essentially has doomed Rome because they lost 3225 troops to my 463 and were easily overcome when I assaulted and captured on my next turn.
Is there a way to keep the AI from doing something dumb like this or is it just hard-coded and no chance to fix it?
