Default Regarding Mod Managers and Steam Submods

So I've been playing this for a while using a variety of mods through the launcher's Steam-based mod manager, and I'm very happy with the new version of Divide et Impera. I applaud the excellent work by all involved.

I'm curious since I'm fairly new to TWC forums, and the use of mods in games, which mod managers do all of you using DEI tend to prefer? Some seem to rave about Mitch's Mod Manager, although I've never tried it myself, and I've heard that many use the TWC Mod Manager, which seems to have a couple of versions out there.

Also, I don't think that the Steam version of DEI gets updated as frequently as the TWC version posted on this forum, and I'm not sure whether the update can be used alongside Steam if you just drop it in your data folder, so I haven't tried it. If I switch, will I lose access to the various mods that I already use through Steam? I presume some, but not all? I use many other minor mods alongside DEI and I don't really want to lose access to them if I start using a new mod manager to launch the game. I'll include a list of the ones that I currently use, since I saw someone was looking for Steam-based submods the other day. I know that lots of submods are posted on TWC, but I'm not sure whether all of these are. I'd have to look into that separately.

I'd like to hear if there are other pros and cons.

Here's a list of other mods that I run alongside DEI unless otherwise noted

    - Training Building Bonuses Removed Submod for DEI 1.0
    - Updated Naval Overhaul for Divide et Impera
    - Constantine: Rise of Christianity Parts 1-2 - this I run separately
    - New lighting and environments mod from "Aztec's Environments and Lightings"
    - Better siege weapons, equipments, and fort walls HQ textures
    - Combatus_Maximus_Shiny Equipment_Pack.pack
    - Epic Music Pack Parts 1-4
    - Improved Event Pictures
    - GBJ Blood Mod: The Original
    - R2:TW GEMFX - Graphic Enhancement Mod 1.0.7
    - Better Horses, elephants, and dogs HQ textures v2
    - Fresh Flesh - Scarred for Life
    - Realistic destructible objects
    - Enhanced Particles

The Steam version of DeI should get updated every time the TWC version does. And you will not lose access to any mods you installed through Steam if you use the standalone version of the mod. The standalone is always recommended: it's more stable and easier to work with, as it's just one file instead of the 4 you need in Steam.

I download (subscribe) to the Steam version if it is available, but I use the Mitch's Mod Manager to actually arrange and run the mods. Better control. Thank you, Mitch!

Excellent, I'll probably start using the standalone myself in that case. I've heard enough praise for Mitch's MM that I'll give that a go as well. Thanks for the speedy replies!

or you just download the sub-mods from here and rename them
in such a way that main DeI is lowest, the DeI patch is above and all other are above those two
    ex-
    where
_DeI_000.pack is the main Dei mod
    __DeI101updatefix5a(1).pack is the fix,
and all other are various sub-mods for DeI

    it is easy...
then unsubscribe to all STEAM sub mods, delete them from "data", enable "out of date" mods in Rome2 launcher and you are set
    D I V I D E - ET - I M P E R A

    & A PROPER EMPIRE: TERRA INCOGNITA .... A P E - T I
