Icon3 native languages for all the major factions

what do you guys think of the idea , that every major faction speaks in theyr native language . for example the Saxsons old german (alt hoch deutsch ) , the Sassanids (pahlavi or persian ) , the roman ( latin ) , the balkan factions (greek) , the huns (mongolian) etc.

we had this in empire total war and in shogun 2 .
why not in attila this time ?

Hum...I love the idea of this but CA isn't, in my opinion, capable of the type of detail and accuracy required to do things right. There are also a lot of holes in scholarship regarding what people spoke during the time so there would be too much guesswork involved.

A nice compromise though would be to use unique voices/accents (though continue to speak English) for every cultural group. Get a Greek speaker to voice Greek factions, a Italian to voice Rome, an Iranian to voice Persians, and a German to voice Germanic factions. I could live easier with CA's corny troopspeak if everyone weren't speaking in a British accent.

well they dont even have to search out the ancient languages . i mean it would give the enviorment much better feeling if in general , the factions speak a nother language . they could take the modern languages for example farsi or arabian or german ,french , latin (wich is thought in school so this might be possible ) , greek etc.

but i get your point ....well i guess the detail work is up to the modders again......if they provide us with the recommended tools of corse

I like this idea, I think this is how it's done in M2TW where people speak English in an accent of that language.

I think it's too hard to find a fitting language for Huns, coz their language is between Proto Turkic and Proto Mongolian.

It would be a major challenge to get right from a historical perspective but even a close approximation of what people were speaking at the time would be a brilliant, immersive aspect of the game

it would attrackt many new and old fans of the total war series imo.
and we had this in empire total war and shogun 2 so it would be a challange to get the ancient languages done but implementing the modern languages would be a new feature ........not like the already exsiting familytree wich we had in many other total war games

Although I like the idea, I don't think this would be the feature that would attract new players or veterans of the series to the franchise.

well the man who is in the main theme of attila total war (in the main menu ) ...is that not mongolian? they can use that i mean its kind of similar .
it would also fit to the main menu theme , if the faction speaks this language

Well, since the man in the main menu is supposed to be Atilla ,he is not mongolian. huns were not mongolians. nor chinese. and they did not speak mongolian. some form of turkic might be a good choice, though finding someone speaking that language...
However, I would love to see factions speak other languages, apart from english (accents donīt really help either, imo). On the other hand, as Darios put it, since schoolars donīt always agree on ancient languages, either, who spoke what, where and how long, maybe it would be better to have native speakers, with accent.
Anyway, Iīm not sure this will happen for TW:A

No, English please, I loved English language. I hate hearing alien languages which I couldn't understand them, no offense though.

I'm against this idea. I could understand English well and a little bit German, but I bet that no one on this forum, arguably no one on earth, could understand all these Latin, Greek, Proto-German, Slavic, Arabic, Turkish, etc. at the same time. In other words, 99 out of 100 cases you heard only gibberish talks. CA could very well lie and give us Elvish speeches and no one would ever suspect. There is simply no immersion.

my point is that even if they dont give us the ancient language , its still possible to get the modern language .
did you guys thought the same over shogun 2 or empire ,that hearing the alien language is wierd ? just wanna know .

Or even better give US tools for voice overs so we can do this ourselfs in mods

Every faction spoke the same language in Shogun 2. The cost and time of doing this in Rome 2 would be a lot higher. And given the option I think it would be better to spend that time and money improving more important stuff like gameplay.

And the Idea of the tools for voice overs in mods ? what do you guys think is that a better idea?

You've never heard the quality of voice work in most mods for games. It's usually pretty garbage.

"Other languages than English" = "Gibberish Talks" apparently?

If you can't tell the difference between Sindarin and ancient Latin, I truly worry for you. Hell, if you can't tell the difference between Greek and Latin, I worry.

CA wouldn't do this accurately, so I'd rather they not do it at all. Still, seeing as I don't speak any of these languages, I wouldn't really care. It all sounds properly exotic.

I bet that you can't tell the difference between Vietnamese and Indonesian, but I don't feel worried for you. I consider myself a history lover, not useless language lover.
