help with installation

ok guys, please help me out here. Seems i've made a huge mistake. I ran into some trouble while installing the game. I have the gold edition (hard copy). I just upgraded my windows & OS from 32bit to 64bit last night, and was in the process of re-installing my stuffs. When i installed M2, i unchecked the direct x installation option for some reason, i don't remember why. After the installation was complete, i tried test running the game and it said the direct x 9 dll file was missing so, i dl'ed and installed a seperate direct x file, but it didn't solve the problem. So i unistalled the whole game and cleared regedit of any m2 trace. When i started the installation process a second time, the pc insists that the vanilla m2 is ALREADY installed and it only accepts disk 2 (the expansion campaigns). I'm at a loss. I'm thinking about reloading the whole OS..

Do you mean you tried to do an inplace upgrade from 32bit to 64bit OS? without loosing data?

If so then just reload the OS now..

Use soemthing like Revo Unininstaller to remove all the M2 Entries from the registry and try reinstallling ift not, BUT if you literally just reinstalled Id backup anything important and reload the OS now, otherwise you will probably have issues later.
