    Default [request] Global armor upgrades.

    hey there,

    with the changes to armor upgrades (them being only available from villages with iron/copper) you cant controll where you build your armor upgrade buildings anymore. this really irritates me.

    Is it possible to make these village buffs global? it baffles me that i have to move my whole army via another provice to upgrade that army against huge cost, and they cant just ship it to me...
    i am not sure about other villages, having global 3 ranks cav might be a bit OP. but on the other hand i would be more realistic, its easy enough to transport horses.


    is this possible to mod?

    Very good idea actually, when you own a city with ability to upgrade armor/weapons/horses, you should be able to upgrade them for all your units within friendly provinces which are connected to the province with the upgrade, for a fee ofcourse.

    It wont be implemented in the main mod and since it seems like there are multiple players that want this it would make sense to make it into a submod.

    Or just create a new one in The submod forum otherwise try downloading the PFM and play around with the files

    Good idea. But I thought the idea of swapping it to the settlement chain was to make sure you couldn't pump out a super army anywhere?

    I tried changing the building effect from this_province to This_faction in the PFM, but that does nothing so far. that section of the DEI .pack is a bit of an old mess, so i'll see if anything else works

    edit: changed another entry of the minor city iron thing to this_faction. now i cant upgrade my swords to bronze at all

    apparently i got the right building, but this_faction does nothing.

    Wouldn't it make more sense if you were able to build a blacksmith any where, once you capture a town with iron, copper etc?

    That might be a good idea.

    Kind of like once you get a certain resource you can build the next tier up of that building (if it requires it), and in this case when you have a copper / iron node you can build that blacksmith building anywhere. Maybe limit it to the main capital of a province, over the minor ones to limit the usage of it. Plus in my mind it shouldn't be as strong as the main copper / iron nodes. Maybe 2.5% increase to armor / shield / melee (or slightly higher %) over the, I think it's 10% for the 1st building chain, 20% for the next, etc.

    Though I do like how it is setup now because it makes the resource that much worthwhile when you own it and at the same time hard to use depending on your army movement. As Rome my iron / copper nodes (apart from the one I took in Egypt) are very far away, and nearly inaccessible to my armies unless I spend 12+ turns to send them there and back to the front. Which isn't the best idea when fighting Egypt in Syria when they can send a navy over when my city is unguarded.

    To be honest, I would completly take those upgrades from the game. They do not make sense at all. They benefit the most heavy units, while they should benefist the most weaker units. If someone is elite, he is already using the best equipment, while some levy guy finally getting a piece of armour would make difference to him.

    I hear you, KAM. Would it be possible to have the nodes just add a flat bonus to armor? For argument, let's say +5. That way, levies get a huge increase from 0 to 5, whereas the elite infantry get proportionately less.

    I would love a sub-mod to remove their rather extreme bonuses to attack/defense etc. and instead just give a recruitment cost bonus, maybe a global one? or something similar. Or at least nerf it a lot, you've already nerfed the general upgrades, which imo is a good thing.

    well, this seems to be working
    have not changed everyting yet, but i can upgrade weapons to bronze as rome everywhere now. so it looks promising.
