    Icon5 Two questions about installing

    Hello

I'm a huge fan of Rome: Total war and I've played vanilla a lot on Steam.
This mod looks very promising and I really want to try it out.

Is it possible to install the mod with the Steam-version of RTW, or do I need to install the game with CD to play the mod? If yes, do I also need the CD of Alexander and Barbarian Invasion?
I have the original CD somewhere but not the expansions (they're only on Steam).

    Thank you very much!

AFAIK there is no 'fix' for the 'Cluster fix' that Steam introduced just so people could continue to play battles against each other when the old Game Spy () system finally ended.

Disc it is! Personally I'd make sure you get the 'Gold' version with original RTW and BI. BI is probably the 'best' to run RSII on. That said, if it's Greek-like you want to play, then phalanxes have been known to behave better under Alex - and Alex (v1.9) was the last.
"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

Well that sucks for all the people that wont be able to play RS2 :/

Okey cool I just bought the RTW:Anthology I'm really excited to play this mod and I hope it will be everything I thougt Rome 2 was going to be.
How historical accurate is RS2 btw?

That's a call everyone has to make based upon their own perceptions and foibles.

I, however, desire the best possible simulation of what I have come to understand is the closest as possible to accurately represent - and I've made a study of the Roman Military as an amateur a life long interest.

Provided you also 'limit' yourself and play within some practicable historical parameters; then I have found RSII to be the best there is - and why I've spent a great deal of time trying to help make it even 'better'.

There's not much stuff going on in RS2 that isn't historical accurate. Sometimes the Gallaeci go on a rampage and wipe Carthago from the map, but that's about the most inaccurate thing i've witnessed. Apart from that, its all there. In my opinion to fully enjoy this mod is to have some imagination and roleplaying ability. there was even one time when I was conquering Gaul with a general named Gaius Julius Caesar with his historical four legions

So yeah this mod can make a pretty accurate impression most of the time i'd say.

Nice to hear about the historical accuracy
I'm having a blast with the mod btw. So much detail, I will never go back to rome 2 now lol.
Only issues are some FPS problems and crashes..maybe I need to lower my settingd. Does it matter which exe I'm starting with from the launcher menu? I've heard BI exe will give better FPS.
also one more question, is it possible to do a phalanx with hoplites or do I need pikes for that?
    Thank you!

I play RS2.6 with RTW.exe so I don't know about the hoplite phalanx. I do know that with BI or Alex you can have a shieldwall with your legionaries. FPS depends on your system ofcourse, and the crashes happen sometimes after a great battle on my playthrough. Some say it helps to wait 60secs before clicking to return to the campaign map. Give the game some time to calculate casualties etc etc.

There's not much I dó know for certain just trying to recall what i've read here on the forum.
