I'm on the brink of destruction here. Crash on campagin start

I have for the past SIX hours been trying different "Fixes" and little tid bits of information to fix my problem. NONE of them have worked, and i've reinstalled 11 times. My game crashed as soon as i hit campagin, then it loads up to the 100% point in the screen, then crashed. I have no idea how to fix this... and i really want to play.

1) What Windows do you have?

2) Is your M2TW a Steam or non Steam version?

3) Have you installed TATW 3.0 both parts + TATW 3.2 Patch?

4) No submods for TATW installed?

5) What fixes did you try?

1. Windows 7
2. Steam
3. I have the most recent version yes
4. None that i know of. I only installed pt 1 pt2 then the patch, if one comes with it, i dont know.
5. Idek... i tried deleting about 50 different folders and reinstalling, i want to say i've basically tried almost everything... Because i did try everything for 6 hours straight

1) Go here and do this first step explained for Windows 7 Users: Edit Security for your main Medieval II Total War folder.

2) Remove Third_Age_3 folder which is not working, just delete it. Then verify your Medieval II TW Steam game cache.

3) Then, from that same thread I gave you the link for, follow the steps explained in section named: STEAM INSTALLATION OF THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR

I followed the instructions, and still the game will launch fine, custom battles work fine, just when i try to load the Third Age Campaign, or the Fellowship one, the intro scene plays, then it tries to load, then when it should switch to the campaign map, it crashes.

Delete map.rwm file present in your steam/.../ M2TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3/ data/ world/ maps/ base folder.

And, delete 27 files which end with *strings.bin, they are to be found in steam/.../ M2TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3/ data/ text folder.
Try again.

Nope, crashed again :/ and i deleted exactly the 27 files, and the map.rwm

Restart Steam, it sometimes screws up installation.

After that, start M2TW once, any campaign will do.

After that, Exit M2TW, restart your PC, and cross your fingers.

If that doesn't fix it, and, if your M2TW is installed in either Program Files or Program Files(x86) folder, then I would suggest moving your whole M2TW folder anywhere else on your PC, just so it is not installed in either one of these two folders. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7418-YUBN-8129

Why is it this hard... i played this mod before on my computer, i just had uninstalled it, why is it this hard..? I just want to play.. :'(

Did you perhaps have a CD/DVD version of M2TW installed before?

I remember one user had to defragment his HDD to get TATW running, might want to try that. Note: If you have an SSD and HDD, then do not defragment an SSD, only HDD should be defragmented.

I deleted everything Medieval 2 from my computer, reinstalled it, then reinstalled TATW following the inscuctions.... IT WORKED thanks for your time, and your help! Now i'll be playing this for about... forever.

Glad it finally works!

If I were you, I would make a backup of whole Third_Age_3 folder somewhere in case you need to reinstall or install some submod for TATW etc.. Also, be sure to check the essential bugfixes for vanilla TATW 3.2 version: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ntial-bugfixes
