Just a rant :(

Sorry, I just need to vent. I'm playing as Portugal and am on turn 90 something. I started a war with Aragon, got excommuncated, paid 25,000 to get back and and was still able to take a couple of cities using that. Got hammered by Lyon and paid them off too. Was going for the last city I wanted from Aragon and the game crashed at the beginning of the siege. NP, I'll try again. Got through half the siege and game crashed. Both times it said that normally the error was caused by graphics being too high. I figured that was no problem, went and turned them down a bit and had just finished beating the city, got through the results screen when it completely crashed again, this time for an unspecified reason.

I've spent countless hours on this one city as I'm also trying to get things done around the house at the same time. I love the game but I think this last crash beat me.

So disheartening.

This is a Stainless Steel problem I'm guessing, not a Medieval 2. You're better off posting in the mods forum (was just guessing it was SS because that's pretty popular and has Aragon, unlike Med 2 vanilla)

Stainless Steel doesn't have Lyon though, don't know of any mod that has Lyon actually. I'd say auto_win it and you're done with it, of course still doesn't work if it's a persistent error and it keeps coming back in every siege battle. In that case I'd say reinstall.

Sorry, think it was Castile and Lyon is what its called in SS. Yeah, I do run SS and I'm sorry for posting it here, I really just needed to rant it out before I chucked my computer.

I downloaded a few fixes I hope will work, updated my GPU, restarted comp and started a new campaign so we'll see.

Ah Castile and Leon.

Leon is a city in northern Spain, Lyon in central France, hence my confusion.

lol - yeah sorry bout that. I LOVE history but I'm terrible with geography. I knew there was a place called Lyon and when I think of "Leon" I think its a person's name so I put the first haha. So was Castile and Leon the name of one single country or did the game just merge two together? I thought at one time there were 3 different countries down in the Iberian penisula: Castile, Leon and Aragon.

Castile and Leon originally were two different kingdoms but Leon later merged into the Kingdom of Castile.

Its funny because I've just started a new campaign on SS6.4 with the Moors and I'm attacking Aragorn at the moment. Spain is dead, Portugal is dead and I'm currently having massive battles with Sicily over North Africa which I'm winning thankfully but it did get dire for awhile there.

I haven't had any lockups or anything out of the ordinary happen.

Istarted over and Now the moors are beating the pants off me. They magically spawned a 600 man army next to the city over night. I don't even have 600 men in all my armies combined lol. My king, his heir and my general all wiped out since all of them were going to attack the city that only had200 soldiers in it. Amazing how200 can turn to 800 in the blink of an eye. I couldn't flee either because my back was against the coast. Wish i could do something about that spawn script haha

Moral of the story is to choose your battles wisely

But yeah, those kinds of situations suck. Especially when you're locked in constant siege warfare and unable to expand or build any new buildings or do more than retrain your depleted units for a few dozen turns.
