Judging by the general consensus amongst my friends many feel Atilla is too similiar to Rome 2 and thus not worth the full price tag.
What are your views on this?

Yes.
No.
Undecided.

I wouldnt have been surprised if it costed more, and if it did it might not be but right now the new content justifies the price quite a lot in my opinion.
But there are other reasons why not to buy the game but lack of content isnt one I think, rather the content itself.
I didn't used to, but I've come round to it. It's its own game, more of a step forward than Napoleon or FOTS was. Medieval II was a reskin and slight step forward from Rome, just as Napoleon was from Empire and FOTS was from S2. They capitalise on each redesign with a second similar game, it's how the TW cycle works, and those second games are invariably a great improvement on the first. It deserves the asking price for the amount of game time and fun you'll probably get out of it.

I can't be 100% sure but the modding possibilities also are a big thing that will probably make this game wort the price in half a year+
If you watch Darren's video review, you will recognize that this is more of a mod or campaign pack update to TWR2 rather than a full scale, stand alone, polished expansion -- which is what we got with NTW or FotS.
So by appearances, this will be the weakest sequel offered since Warscape debuted in 2009.
With Attila, we're getting a new campaign pack on a slightly retextured map that is identical to TWR2. There will be a family tree. Fire is added, some new music (that is repetitive according to Darren), the nuking of regions, magically tumbling walls, and an advancing snow line. Besides the campaign map, we still have blobbing, arcade battles, bad AI, torches, and identical bleating voice overs.

I voted no, although a small part of me was in the "undecided" category. I'm certainly not paying full price for it - whether this is due to me not thinking the RRP is justified, just not caring much about getting my hands on Attila early on are just due to me slowly interest in games, I'm not sure. I certainly don't view it as a standalone game - whatever it's marketed as, I just see it as an expansion. Essentially the same time-period with many of the included features being things that people wanted in Rome 2, and likely being included due to the many complaints and grumbles at the lack of them in Rome 2.
I'm quite looking forward to it, and I don't see the release being anywhere near as bad as Rome 2...but I just don't think of it as a stand-alone game.
It would certainly be interesting to see the difference in pre-orders between this and Rome 2.
Yes, and by a large margin, at least compared to any other game. How many games are there that provides over 100 hours of gameplay? (I have 387 hours on Rome II) The new game has the map worked from scratch, new setting, completely new factions, completely new unit and building roster, new game mechanics, etc.

It's a faulty promise to call it a mod anyways. One that can be applied to any game after the first one with a new engine. Medieval II was a mod of Rome I, because why not...

FotS was $30 at release. This is $45 -- a 50% increase.![]()
