Default Let us examine battle maps from the campaign map

CA puts a lot of work into battle maps covering the entire campaign map world. I've always wanted to be able to pick a spot on the campaign map and examine the battle map of that spot. It seems like a waste that they put all that work into making all those battle maps and then we only get to see a small percentage of them. If we could examine them then we could find our favorite spots and favorable terrain for our armies. Set up the perfect ambushes etc.

    Edit: Call it Battlefield View.

Interesting topic. In Attila the textures look improved, especially the overall campaign map there are major improvements compared to Rome II. On the battle map, again some nice details, the major improvement is especially noticeable in the desert. Also, it looks like CA studied and observed actual geography and real world features for Attila's map. Iran for example is not a giant desert with palm forest anymore, which is realistic. In other words we have greenery where it belongs.

Well there is already a new feature in attila that you can see the mini-map of the battle before you start the battle, And i think thats good enough. Because if you can examine the best spots to fight on you only make it yourself easier to win of a already easy BAI thats almost no to very little challenge. I hope they spend more time on the BAI then adding features you use ones or twice till you know the maps anyhow.

Being able to see the radar map a few seconds before you enter a battle is neat, but not at all useful in any way. What I'm suggesting is actually useful and shouldn't be hard to do since all the pieces already exist. It could be called Battlefield view.

How is it not at all useful in any way? It has some use where you can withdraw if its not suitable although not as useful as being able to view the battle map anywhere at any time. Its certainly not not useful in anyway...

Battlefield view is practically the campaign map in this game. You'll get the kind of map you'll be fighting in on the campaign map.

Yes the battle maps mirror the campaign maps, for example if your figthing in Bruttium on the battle map you can see Sicily and Mt Etna. But you cant see the topoghraphy before the battle

Perhaps not the every single hill but you get an idea of the terrain. The campaign map could indicate topography as well.

Is this not basically done in custom battle, since you can pick any spot from the campaign map.
Also, the maps are not finalised as they are, the terrain is done by CA but upon loading a spot for the first time, the foliage is actually randomly generated and then fixed to be the same should you return to that spot.
