    Default More Naval Battles?

    I tend to neglect naval warfare, for a variety of reasons, but I saw a mod on steam(can't remember sorry) that reduces the upkeep of naval units and i've been thinking that aside from the tactical issues in naval warfare(transports too powerful is one) I tend to not build much in the way of naval units for strategic reasons.

    I mainly don't build much in the way of navies because I feel like I don't get much value relative to the cost and the upkeep, at least I don't use them much in early-mid game

    I'm wondering how people feel about the idea that if the DEI team reduced the cost and upkeep of ships if it would make naval warfare a little more viable a part of the game?

    Naval warfare will have full rebalance with DeI 1.1.

    Any hints, previews, or tidbits on that aspect? Or do we have to be good little children and sit patiently and wait for it?

    We have general idea, but nothing done in that aspect for far, we need soem time to play DeI too

    I don't know about you people, but having a fleet of catapult ships strolling around and raiding sea-settlemens by killing whole garrisons from the water & then looting the settlement is rather effective. You both harass the enemy and earn money - usually with zero casualties.

    I used to do this, but with the recent official patches and accuracy changes DeI has made it's not as viable as it once was. The recent CA patches make it so if a unit is under artillery attack and has no way to retaliate (IE by artillery ships) they'll move to a place that can't be fired upon, or will try to.

    It was immensely fun to just have a 16 stack of ballista ships and manually control one while the other 15 fired automatically and wipe out a whole level 3 garrison with zero casualties.

    There are some maps where the AI can't get to a position to not get murdered from this tactic though, but not many.
