    Default Extreme naval casualty rates

When playing naval battles, I find that naval units have much higher casualty rates than land units, even if I'm winning. It screws up my campaign if i lose half my navy every battle. Does anyone else get this, or is it a bug? Is there anyway naval units can be modded to have higher defense?

Do you mean ships or soldiers when you complain about the casualties?

I mean the soldiers on the ships. When they engage in melee they seem to have over twice the kill rate to their identical land based counterparts, even when matching two high tier naval units.

It is fine that they have a good rate of casualties, else gameplay gets screwed, when most of the ships just end up stuck in boarding mode, and the player that has 2-3 ships more will just be able to ram the other over and over again to sink them. Having strong marines would become irrelevant, and only amount of ships would become important.

I see your point Ritterlichvon86 but this doesn't have to be a problem, tweaking naval morale can make naval boarding engagements shorter while maintaining lower casualty rates.
