Game not getting past initial startup 1.0

Today I woke up to the game not working. I get to the white "Rome 2" screen, the first one, and it just hangs out there until I click and I get the "application is not responding, end process" box. I verified the game cache, restarted steam, restarted my computer, and no change.

Don't think I missed any updates?

Final solution is a reinstall I suppose?

Do you have any other mods installed?

If so.

Uninstall them and try again, because some mods go out of date and you need to upgrade to the latest version for them to work properly with the game, or they just dont work with DEI at all.

Nope, nothin' else. At least I uninstalled them anyways.

At first it froze and crashed my computer, now it just freezes the game. Came out of nowhere.

Or try a direct approach:

-delete rome2 folder in:
C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly
(NOT in program files !!!!)

now verify via STEAM

then go to:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War Rome II\redist

there double click in order all 3 vcredist
the 2nd and 3rd chose "repair"

then open further " directx " folder.
scroll down till you find "DXSETUP"
run set up
you should be ok

(the above steps are a must in crashes ,and in general fix the game!!! why not KAM2150 make a sticky with this ? )

Try to look for lingering mods in data folder and in your mod manager, sometimes they stay even if you deleted them.
