Default Ancient trivia: too far for a fort?

I started a vh campaign as a small faction in the hope that the later game will become boring later than on h. The start is indeed ... very hard. I'm at war with two factions who have more and bigger stacks with better units and I got gutted several times. The CAI is not always bad imho. My only chance so far is to fight defensive battles with fortifications, something weaker war parties did also in real history.

Question, as I started R2TW only quite recently: is there a mod that makes your stack march only to the range where it still can build a fort? Or a mod that shows when the movement points deplete to the point on which fortification is still possible? I'm sure at least some ancient generals were able to start fortification still in the accepted working hours of their soldiers.

You can see on your bottom left a green bar when you click an army. If you now hold the right mousebutton before releasing it, you can see the green bar turning partly into yellow. This is how much movementpoints will be consumed. You now have to guess for yourself if its left 40% (or w/e you need to fortify).

Thanks. How many points do I need to fortify? Is it fixed (like the 40% you mentioned) or depending on differing circumstances?

If you hover your mouse over the stance ability it should say how much it needs. It should be between 50% - 35%. Im not sure the exact %.

It actually depends on the faction you're playing in DeI. Rome needs the least amounts of action points to fortify (but the most to raid I think). The exact amount you need should show up in the stance selection options.

That's all very helpful, will try it out this evening when I will resume getting chased around by far superior forces. I hope I will be further on able to restrict me from beating precious parts of my PC due to frustration.
