Default DEI Caesar in Gaul on Hard Impossible?

Hi, i am incredibly frustrated with this, i keep losing ground and getting it back, but i still get overrun by full stack armies. What is incredibly bull$hit is that i didn't know untill now that AI had bonuses , i suspected this but i managed to finish the grand campaign with Iceni (with DEI 0.96) which was waaaay more balanced than this.
I also suspect DEI is meant more for grand campaign than ceasar in gaul, let me know if this is the case. Right now i am playing as Arverni.

Considering AI gets cheating imaginary bonuses (ruins immersion greatly), i was thinking about cheating as well , as there is absolutely no balance and honor in continuing this way, this is the status i am currently on with the campaign , this is 1 turn before i get 4 of my territories taken away immediately by multiple full stack armies with silver weapon upgrades and very heavy infantry ( i only have heavy infantry, the only place where i could build very heavy, is far west, so no chance of reinforcing the center). I hoped AI bonuses would mean smarter opponents and better fights, but all it means is that they get 5 times more money and everything else, which is not realistic nor makes sense to play against , this is not Warcraft 3. I can barely field 2 full stack armies , barely start making the third, while a little village can field just as much.

I have no idea who thought this was a good idea, i moved from Radious mod to DEI because of the same .

Have in mind i never declared a war on anyone who didn't attack me first, if Gauls were this divided back in the actual time, ceasar would have absolutely no trouble wiping them out, and as you can see on the 4 last screenshots , this is as far as i got. Last 4 screenshots - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7...7/screenshots/

So, what i am seeking is advice, before i either quit or cheat. Everyone who is in war with me refuses to have peace , factions who have one village and who i have super high relations with, refuse to join confederations of any kind.

Also is there a way to make the AI not have full stack armies, but instead have all the same bonuses as a player? I have MINOR modding experience (made a mini mod to disable civil war as its the most annoying feature ever).

Honestly i found Alexander campaign in Rome 1 on hard easier than this, so it can't be just me. Help!

I get the feeling that DEI should only really be used with the general campaign. I know people have stated that the campaigns work but I doubt they are balanced due to all the changes this mod makes.

I have played the Nervii on hard and it is very possible, not with 1.0 though.

I once tried as Averni and I ended up dying...

Yeah i had the same feeling, 0.96 was the only version i played that i thought things were good the way they are, of course it had its issues and bugs, but there has been sooo many changes in 1.0. This is my first playthrough with Arverni, ever, it is very similar to Iceni so i had SOME idea of what i was doing, as you can see here, most of my allies in northeast and southwest were wiped out. - http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/...3136C8E318188/

The only 2 factions i am at war are Massilia and Nemetes, both of which have less provinces than me but have 3 times the army size, which is why its extremely annoying at this point. Some random british tribe in the north declared war on me out of the blue, forgot the name.

Please bear in mind that the difficulty levels on DEI are what they say they are, hard is hard! DEI is not fully balanced for the mini campaigns but I finished Caesar in Gaul as Rome on hard and it was excellent. Try normal campaign difficulty as 1.0 is tougher than ever before

Why don't you play on normal or easy then?

If it is still impossible to you on those, I'd see a complaint being valid, but not like this.

P.S. I'm not a Dev of DeI, and this is my sole personal opinion.

    Addendum:
Some screenshots before those four indicate that you might have been using unit mods. Are you sure, that you are playing DeI without any other mods or submods?

Those older screenshots were made with DEI 0.9

Normal campaign and battle difficulty, means that the AI is on the same footing as you; i.e. no bonuses.

Higher difficulties on the campaign map or battle map result in the AI getting a bonus to various stats etc. to a varying degree. This is not a DEI thing (though they have changed the values a bit), its a vanilla Rome 2 thing.

There is some feeling, which I agree with, that the AI is more aggressive on higher difficulties but the main difference is the stats bonuses. Its not a very intelligent way of making a game hard but alas its how most developers (CA included) handle things.

Yeah, i agree, although i do not blame DEI modders for this, CA doesn't seem to want to waste time with fixing/balancing and polishing the game and instead went to work on Atilla. Rant over. Either way thanks for replying guys, i did try on normal and yes its a LOT easier, like i said i did finish the Grand Campaign with DEI with Iceni, i was just hoping for more intelligent opponents and no bonuses for the AI at the same time. Also diplomacy is kind of lacking a lot of things , i had a couple of ideas for expanding it, but that requires a new thread.

You seem to be under the impression that Radious or DeI had something to do with the AI bonuses on Hard+ but this is simply not the case. Idk if you're new to gaming but this is how 99% of games increase difficulty--bonuses to the computer--ppl need to stop being astonished/outraged by this fact. We would all love to see a "smarter" AI but that's a larger task than we imagine.

As for DeI, if you're going to play on Hard+ make sure you turn down your Battle Difficulty once in game. The economy and PO bonuses are acceptable to make up for the AI's awful battle decisions; the increased stats are frustrating.
If it's still too difficult then play on Normal.

Once played on Very Hard as Rome, and yes it was impossible.
