Battles bugged for me how can I fix?

Currently I am running DeI as my only mod. The game works fine until I enter a battle. Midway through the battle at a random point the game will crash to windows.
This happens with at least two different factions. Any suggestions to get it to work?

I play without internet, unplugged (gives best performance)
start STEAM in off line

after clicking "play Rome" in that window on screen are the modds.

now , I wait ( +/- 1 minute) till the following appears under each modd listed:

upload - delete
-the wait is because STEAM no connected to Internet is loading slowly (I think) , it loads slowly any way.

if I start before those option appear a CTD of freeze is quarantined.

thus click "start rome"

now take you hands of your mouse ! literally, wait till "sega" is done , then esc esc and now load/play new game.
hit turn
save
exit to main menu
exit to desktop
wait 2 minutes
restart rome
(wait for "upload delete" mod options to appear)
start rome
(hands off mouse)

reload the just saved game and surprise surprise, the game is flawless and no crashes/freezing for at least 100 turns

every 40+ turns exit rome and restart

this is what I do ad no problems no more
