Default First bug in the game

I just had the first attack by the AI on a city and guess what?

The AI froze and could not take the city!

The AI had something like 1800 men on my walls and I only had one unit of militia, preparing to die fighting. But the whole game just stopped and I had to press esc to get out of the situation.

I loaded the same siege one more time (I saved just before going to the fighting) and the same thing happend again!

The AI take my gateway and the walls and then it all grinds to a halt!

I hope this is a fluke, - I have some pictures of the situation that I will upload later.

    Cheers,

    No it is not.

I have played this game for 30 hours now and I had no problem taking citys and all the other stuff in the game. This is a programming bug, not a problem with video or sound.

The AI just stops in the middle of things, because there is something wrong in the next line of code it is processing. What I hope is that this is a one off, and not a generel fault in the AI-programming.

This sounds like one of those very rare situational bugs, which can be extremely annoying. I suggest you just autoresolve it, if you can.

I will try to put a log on the game to see exactly what happens when the AI halts. And then I will autoresolve to get on with the game.

I had just looked forward to see (for the first time) the AI taking one of my cities.

Anyway, the game is fantastic and looks awesome - I played it for 16 hours straight tuesday!

Not to approve of this unhealthy time of gameplaying, but good man! I'll likely do the same haha.

    Played for 16 hours straight.

Still at least this shows that the game is stable.

Could be related to the bug that's to be fixed in the release day patch - the AI not doing anything unless you make a move.

No it's a video card problem. What's happening is when the AI captures the walls, it has a really good view of the city so it stays there for a while. You need to downgrade your video settings so that the AI isn't awestruck by the view.

rofl what a comment but my opinion its that known bug. I had it allready in the GOLD DEMO with a mod. I had 5 cannons and 2 crossbowmen and the could fire the whole time at those legions without they where attacking me......

I found out what it was.

It's the old "ladder-bug" that also were in RTW. Sometimes the troops in RTW could not put the ladders up, other times they froze when the troops reached the wall.

In this game they climb up the ladders and then just stand still on the wall, not continuing the attack.

I had to reload the game 3 times when finally the AI managed to get the siege-tower on the wall, without it burning down. Then the AI-troops from the tower took the city, but all the AI-troops using ladders were still frozen on the wall for the third time in a row!

I hope they look on the ladder-attack code-lines!

    Cheers,

See the real problem is not a bug. Its a hidden trait for those soldiers - a fear of heights. Those men looked down and just froze. Its a trait to add realism to the game, a good percentage of people have a fear of heights and just freeze when that fear sets in. The ai just got unlucky and had a whole unit like that or maybe their commander just froze and was too scared to relay your orders.

they arent scared or enjoying the view, they just cant decide who of them goes down the stairs first since that one will certainly die only if theres just a militia unit there.

Since the soonest release date is the 10th, obviously the patch will be out by then.

THis is probably known to CA but there is a little annoying bug in the text of the German version.

When playing as HRE, a few nations that I have diplomatic relations with refers to themselves as England.

So, I ak the poles for an alliance and they tell me that would not be in england's best interest...bully for England, but what about you guys? Also happened with Denmark...

    Just thought i'd mention it.

Its because everyone wants to be English, especially Scotsmen, Irishmen, and Frenchmen...

Its another feature. This game is essentially bugless, people just confuse features designed to enhance realism, such as some soldiers having a fear of heights and extreme Anglophilia as bugs...
