Since Attila appears to be like Napoleon was for Empire I'm wondering if it will have a scenario/story driven campaign like Napoleon had? I greatly enjoyed the Napoleon campaign and the story element. To those who don't know, Napoleon had a 3 part tutorial, plus 11 historical battles, plus 3 story driven focused campaigns (Italy, Egypt, Europe) with the third being the larger scale grand campaign. It's the best single player structure Total War has ever had in my opinion.

There will be a tutorial like in Rome II, and 3/4 historical battles. (said in the official TW Stream)

Considering they are claiming this game is a new title, and not a standalone expansion like Napoleon, I think there is a good chance CA will release smaller campaigns with a more specific focus. They will probably follow the same format as R2 and release DLC mini campaigns like HATG and CIG. I think this is more likely than releasing something similar in style to Napoleon.

Of course lets not forget most of the DLC will be culture packs.

There won't be a character-driven campaign, but the same 'chapter objective' optional story mechanic as Rome 2 will be in.

Attila is more similar to Napoleon than you think. For starters, it has (in some quarters) been billed as a standalone expansion as well as its own game. Add a titular character rather than era, set it a bit later than the previous game, and it's a very similar idea. Also, Napoleon did feature more focussed campaigns, both within the main game (Italy, Egypt) and as DLC (the peninsular campaign).

I wasn't very clear, I do agree that there are similarities between Attila and Napoleon. I was more commenting on CAs view of Attila being a separate title. Where as from memory Napoleon was a standalone expansion to Empire. Given their view point on it I guess they will release DLC campaigns similar to the R2 style which were more focused. Where as if a game was viewed by CA as an Expansion I doubt they would follow up with the same quantity of DLC.

Something will have to be made different to make playing as the Huns a challenge in the Grand Campaign, as it seems like they will be given a lot of scripted advantages when they are AI-controlled.

A system like Napoleon might work: the first campaign could be to subdue other nomadic & barbarian tribes, with the final goal of defeating Bleda (an ally-turned-enemy AI faction) to establish sole leadership of the Huns. The second campaign could be focused on expanding the Hun empire while collecting tribute from the two Roman empires (both by threatening/raiding Roman territory as well as accepting payment to assist both in dealing with other barbarian threats), with the final campaign having the objective of conquering one or both of the Roman factions. Of course, this could all play out as three phases of one campaign rather than three separate campaigns.
