campaign map diplomacy "bug"

I just noticed that sometimes the AI will make a "counteroffer" which reads:
"Their offers: We will give xxx florins"

but what it means is that YOU the player will pay THEM those florins, which is very badly worded. It should be their DEMANDS. If someone comes to me and says "me and my friends agreed, we will give xxx" then it surely means THEY will give that.

This annoyed me so much I just reloaded to see if I misread anything, but no, it even states outright "please accept this gift of ours"

okay, something and extremely annoying is going on.

I tried once more, same save file, with another faction:

note that I only got 546 florins, not 5000. I can't "cheat" the AI like such in doing deals, why can it do that? What the FRAG is going on?

And I tried giving this guy my map for 500 florins, HIS counteroffer reads exactly as the one in the opening post "Their offers: WE will give xxx" and if I make a counteroffer to that it changes to "your demans: GIVE xxx"

so absolutely, 100% I am not misreading anything here, the game is telling me one thing and then doing another.
