Default Marrying your faction heir to a foreign princess

I'm going through my second play through, (the first one lasted about 7 turns before I was wiped out....) anywho, I'm still surviving and learning more and more but can't seem to quite understand the dynamics behind marrying your faction heir off. From what I've read you have to send out your diplomats and be lucky enough to chance upon a princess wondering around the world with good traits, ask her to marry your heir and hope she says yes. The other way, which is what I've had happened up till now is for the AI to send you an invite to marry their princess. I'm not a big fan of this way since I don't know what traits she has and half the time I don't even know what nations she comes from! I got lucky with my first one and she was from the nation right next to me so it set up a good alliance.

This time around no one wants to marry my man and he's getting older plus I don't want the AI to just throw some random woman my way. There HAS to be a better way and I just haven't found it yet. I know that I can marry my heir to one of her cousins or something like that but I don't even have that option right now as the oldest cousin is about ....2 . Anyway, please tell me I'm doing something wrong and how to correct it. Thanks.

Well, you could open the chat bar at type: toggle_fow That removes the fog of war and you can see all the princesses across the world map.. Else there's not so much to do other than going with your diplomat and search for a princess or wait for an offer for your heir to marry a noble lady (which wont give you any married traits, but you will be able to marry and also get children).

Wow, that's kinda disappointing I think an interface that could pull up a list of available princess from the kingdom you are talking to would have really worked well here. Ah well, thanks for confirming my fears.

If you open the fog of war, this shouldn't be terribly difficult (especially if you're playing a Christian nation.
I never have a problem finding a foreign prioncess for my heir almost immediately. Start looking for her several turns before you want to marry him.
Scout around the map and find one a princess you like and start sending your diplomat after her.

Usually by my 5th or 6th generation king, ive got a ruler with relations to 4 or 5 different foreign countries.

This process can be faster if you have multiple diplomats scattered around the map.
I usually try to park one at each nations capital. Like if im England, ill have a diplo parked at Edinburgh, Paris, Leon, probably Hamburg (close proximity to HRE and the Dutch), Rome, and if possible ill send one over to the middle east.
This way you can start diplomatic negotiations of any kind very quickly when you need to.

I have a simple question - tried to find the answer by search engine yet no luck (nothing in thread having "princess" or " heritage" or "inherit").

If I marry my hair with foreign princess is there a possibility to inherit that factions lands after whole pricesses family is wiped out?

No. When marrying your prince to a foreign princess you get an alliance with that country and the resulting children will have their partial bloodline.
The bloodline trait isn't good for anything except for roleplaying purposes.

You can always convince yourself that since your future grandchildren are half-bloodlined with that country that that gives you the right to roll your army in and take their lands by force
England played that game with France for a few centuries.

would be cool if you could assassinate their heirs and make your prince their sovereign by right by her wife...

Duck of Death, thank you for clarifying that matter I guess the other way around it works the same, I mean when you marrying your princess with other faction leader. It's a shame though, as it would always gives us another way to win more lands in other way than by war. On the other hand :
