Default Question about Princesses and Family Members

Hello guys! I'm no new at all to the game (I've been playing it on and off for the last, mmmh, seven years? LOL) and I find it to be one of the best games I've ever had the honour to play.

However, I've got a pretty "newbye" question about princesses. In my previous playthroughs, I didn't care much about dynastic matters and stuff like that (I found battles far more interesting) but I've recently discovered the joys of roleplaying inside a campaign, particularly in my latest, a byzantine one on Stainless Steel.

In this campaign I'm trying to keep my Royal House (the Komnenos) strong, sometimes strenghtening its ties with two other "dinasties" that I've accepted inside the Family Tree as a result of marriage or adoption.

Here is my question: are the princess "agents" (meaning those actually playable on the campaign map) tied to the original bloodline alone (meaning the Komnenoi, in my case), or will be spawn by any family member who holds the title of Faction Leader or Faction Heir? To better explain it, if a member of the "Vriennios" family becomes my faction heir, will his daughters become playable princesses (even if born before his "arise" to the title)? Or is it tied to a hidden resource being the original bloodline? I never put much attention on it, and now I'm curious about it.

I know I might have explained it badly - feel free to ask for a simplification of the matter XD

No it's not tied to any "original bloodline"; the daughter of any family member will become a princess if he is currently and faction leader or faction heir..

Faction Heirs are chosen by how much authority he has, if i've not mistaken. I don't think there are a predefined set of characters who are allowed to be such... if the current heir dies, the next family member who has the highest authority trait is appointed to take his place..(the authority bar is hidden from view until an FL becomes heir or leader, but they all have it). If 'm wrong some of the experienced members here can correct me.

You are, I'm afraid. The kings oldest living son becomes the faction heir, and if the heir dies his oldest son becomes the heir or the late heirs oldest brother if he has no son. When the king has no descendants it seems to be random but it might be based on authority in those instances. For the Teutonic Order everything you said is correct.

Note that if a character becomes King but has no sons of age someone else will become heir, but even when the Kings son comes of age he will not become the heir. This is rather ridiculous for a Medieval game, but fortunately some mods can allow you to appoint your heir through an ancillary.

Sorry that I'm going off topic.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's based on authority.

Absolutely correct. King's eldest may be more likely to be the heir for reasons related to inherited Authority traits, but that's it.

Okay, I think we had a misunderstanding thanks to my little attention to the details xD the statement you highlighted was referred to the faction heir's daughters.

Let's say the Character A's wife gives birth to a daughter, while Character A is still nothing but a simple family member. Two turns later, he becomes Faction Heir due to whatever trigger you'd like (death of the previous Faction Leader or Heir). Will his daughter become a princess even if born before her father's arise to the Title? Basically, is it tied to the condition of her father at her birth, or at her coming of age? I'm asking it because I need to know it before, so I can start planning a suitable marriage for her and stuff now (it's simply a matter of roleplay); since there are still 10 or so turns missing, and my turns tend to be full of planning and battles, I'm not likely to find it out soon. Btw, thanks for the reply

Yes, is this case A's daughter will be a royal princess (selectable character on the campaign map). So it is tied to the condition of her father at her coming of age.

Well, in my experience usually the King's eldest son becomes heir. If he hasn't a son, or his son has not yet came of age, it usually goes to the person with the highest authority...anyway, this thread has been answered, thank you both
