So are there more factions(playable and non playable) in this then Rome 2?

Also a few factions aren't correct.

    Caucasians(I don't remember seeing them)
Sclaveni, Venedians and Anteans(Slavic not Germanic)
Gepids(They aren't migrators at the start)
    Afrighids(Eastern)
Magyars(What does Hotness mean? But they are nomadic)
Macedonia(Roman not Hellenic also its an emergent faction)
Briton(I don't think it was confirmed Briton has access to Celtic units. They may just be Roman in game)

    Also in the game are:
    Pontus(Roman emergent)
    Egypt(Roman emergent)
And there may be more Roman emergent factions we haven't seen yet.

Thank you, I was sure about all of them but the Anteans and updating the thread, as I narrowed down each one. Oh, I just think Hungarians are beautiful There's a rebel faction called Caucasian separatists: This may be default for Lazica, Kartli, Armenia, etc.

During the game, Roman heritage successors state can appear around with the civil war, collapse. They are named like Egypt, Italia, Macedonia, Britannia etc.. are roman faction that try to survive and maybe rebuild the empire. Is like they expanded the Roman-Britons to all the roman world as possible ahistorical outcome but plausible.

Better to have the rebels continue the Roman military legacy they have been part of for centuries rather than having some ancient regional units popping out of the woodwork.

Arran and Abasgia should be Caucasian as I think, if CA really have included the Caucasian sub-culture in Attila TW then it is great, but i do not know whether it is confirmed. I guess Aorsi have to be included as separate faction in North-East of Caucasus, on the west bank of Caspian Sea. Also you have missed Lakhmids. they are the vassals of Sassanids in modern day Iraq. And we definitely need the official vanilla map of the Attila Total War.

By Nobatea I'm assuming they mean Nabataea? This is good so West Arabia is not desolate as I thought then.

I'm also glad they have finally separated Arab, Persian and African cultures. I saw a general in one of DarrenTW's videos called "al-Nuaman" and was awash with relief my generals will not be called Amanistabokhe and Micispa again.

Don't be too excited. In one of the preview videos, a member of the Sassanid family was named al-Nuaman, so my guess is that the Arabs and the Persians share the same culture. Let's all prasie the great Ghassanid Emir, Yazdegerd I!

No, its Nobatia, the Nubian faction that will replace Meroe.

Ah, I was thrown off because it said the culture was Middle Eastern.

Yeah and I saw in the diplomacy screen that the guy for Mazun was dressed like a Sassanid.

I mean how hard is it really for CA to understand we are two entirely different people...

The Ghassanids are located around the area where the Nabataeans were on Rome II.

Agreed, it's quite plausible. The minor emerging Roman factions are a nice addition.

I'm really, really, really curious what their plan with DLC will be in regards to factions. I've hunted around, and maybe just missed it, but I don't think there's been much info about DLC other than the Viking Ancestors or whatever that is part of the pre-order.

The reason I'm curious is that there was never a North African culture pack in R2, nor an Eastern culture pack. Because of this, I sort of wonder if this means they will try and do more with those factions in Attila. Now, I know that Western and Eastern Rome include some of those potential factions, yet I'm really curious if there will be DLC campaigns where the Roman sides have started the downhill slide thus opening up the ability to play as some of those factions.

Really, Attila will be interesting, because this is the first base-game campaign in a long while (since Napoleon at least), where you can start off as a faction that owns practically a third of the map. Which means that potential DLC factions are fewer in number in some ways unless they do a lot with migration mechanics and have a bunch of factions added that have similar starts to the current line-up of migratory sides. That, or have mini-campaigns with later start dates allowing you to play as factions that sprung up as Western Rome disintegrated.

To be fair, I liked the faction list. Also, lots of emergent Romans seems like a good feature.

No Kidarites/Red Huns or Hephtalites/White Huns? The Eastern frontier of the Sassanians seems to be very peaceful ...

Where did you base your list on? I noticed a few mistakes. And where did you base the factions cultures on? Not counting the playable an and emergent factions CA makes only the distinction of 10 cultural groups. 3 different german groups included. Suebians for example start in migration. The sabirs are not in the same cultural group as the roxolani for example and are not classified as sarmatian. Probably they are in the same group as the huns.

Faction's cultures are based on historical knowledge and encyclopedia searches. If you'd like to amend their designation, I'm open to changes and additions. All factions, except for the Caucasian faction (Caucasian Separatists: They're probably Roman emergent) are in the game and have faction icons. It's based on the 'Huns confirmed as playable.' interview and play-through.

Well, to begin with, there's no eastern frontier in the game. The maps stops in modern eastern Iran, so no Kidarites or Hepthalites. Even Iran itself is squeezed, its shape distorted in order not to make the map extended to the east "too much"...
