    Default Ship improvements in Attila

I greatly enjoyed the naval battles in Empire and Napoleon and liked Shogun 2's also. I have some hopes for ship improvements in Attila.

First, I would like to a health bar above ships so I don't have to look at the unit card or wait for a tooltip to load to know how my ship is doing.

Second, I would like the projectile range of my ship to be shown at all times that I have that unit selected. Not just when my cursor is physically hovering over that unit. This improvement should be applied to all land projectile units as well.

Third, I would like to see the turning arc of my ship when I move it.

Fourth, I would like to see set sails (forward), backwards, rotate left, and rotate right buttons put back on the screen. These are important movement commands. Also, if wind is being simulated then there should be a sails control button as well.

Fifth, I would like oars to be more important. "Raking" oars was a major part of ship combat in this period to my knowledge. Oars should be able to be destroyed and pulled into the ship.

All good demands, though you know the range thing (on land or sea) needn't be a problem. Just hold down the space bar and you can see ranges and movement destinations.

Yes, I know about that hotkey, but I still think it should appear when a unit is selected. There's no good reason to hide that information.

I hate Empire naval battles, I hate Napoleon naval battles, I hate Shogun 2 naval battles, I hate Rome II naval battles. Nothing CA can do to make me like naval battles. I'm sorry, had to post it : P

Here's a newly posted Attila ship battle.

The removal of ramming is probably a good thing, but it hasn't been replaced with anything like oar mechanics so naval battles are very simple. There doesn't appear to be any wind simulation or sail control.

I completely agree with the OP, and want to see this also in Rome2 for the sake of naval battles...

As it is right now this seems quite weak I think they should have put in the work elsewhere in this game if this is it, where are the improvements over past naval warfare. Love Empire naval battles.

Both Empire and Rome II are lacking in features that could have or could be applied. Oar Raking for one would be awesome.

Personally, naval battles are much more enjoyable with DEI naval mod. Plus I edited my stratpos to reduce the amount of naval units in a fleet. There are only 6 units in a fleet. Unless you or the enemy brings another fleet you only have to worry about commanding and defeating 6 units. Makes it easier to play tactical.
